They know that the squid was a hoax and the teleportation tech of "11/2" wasn't an accidental disaster but actually worked as planned.
We know that the Senator (and possibly the Chief) were trying to maintain peace between the cops and the 7th K.
A simplified guess is that the Senator's faction of the 7th K is going to set up a massive race conflict and then "drop a squid" to unite everyone.
But my guesses have been pretty off so far.

Well the senator said he isn’t doing that because it isn’t original
It’ll be something to further his presidential chances. Maybe his plan is to reveal the hoax to become the President of the people in a way

He (looking glass) "kind of" is being mentally tortured right now, he has lived in fear since witnessing the events of 11/2, even leading a support group for those with similar fears. he’s now learned it’s all been a lie.

I wonder if they are going after him to “initiate” him into the 7k. Sort of like a “you know to much, you either join or die” thing

That's why I had "drop a squid" in quotes. He won't drop an actual squid, but he'll use the teleportation device in some manner to jumpstart humanity and set himself up as a hero.

Petey-pedia was pretty light this week
Had an old ad for Nostalgia, Peteys weekly breakdown of the TV show, and then the pamphlet that Looking glass passed out in that meeting

You kind of see Looking Glass as a Rorsach 2.0 now. Might be pushed to extreme action when pressured in a difficult situation. Even his personal life seem Rorshach esque, they had him in there eating just beans and watching TV.

Looking Glass wears a Tulsa cap, and someone asked him last episode if he was from Tulsa. He said something like, Not quite, Hugo, a little town just south of there near the Texas border.
Hugo is on the border, and a good 160 miles from Tulsa. It's not like it is a suburb. They are about as far apart as Baton Rouge and Natchitoches.

If he's on Io, that's very Arthur C. Clarke of them to do that.
If he knew he was on Europa, that would explain his knowing that Earth had a satellite monitoring it (Manhattan wouldn't need a mechanical satellite to monitor it all).
ETA to say Europa instead of Io. I was getting my moons from 2010 and the sequel novels mixed up.
