I doubt its Japan, more likely Vietnam. He spoke to Angela in Vietnamese while she and Laurie were there, and it just makes more sense in the Watchmen universe where the US won the Vietnam war and colonized it afterwards

Ooooooo you are so right and I completely forgot about that old vietnamese saying conversation and I'll tell you why.

Because the daughter came in later and said she was having nightmares about running naked trying to get away and for some reason I immediately and incorrectly equated Hiroshima when, in fact, it was this she was referencing! Thanks for smacking me back into what was actually being conveyed!

Lady Trieu is out for revenge against Dr Manhattan!

The little girl in the picture above is Lady Trieu's mother and Lady Trieu's daughter having the nightmares (described in the picture above) is the rejuvenated Mother or a clone thereof because remember how it all began with this episode .... her making a baby for the people in the house and on the property she wanted.

And it wouldn't surprise me, although this is a reach, if this is not tied somehow into Dr Manhattan's clones he's given Veidt on Mars.

because of the race theme (and tying it to Rorschach)

Why would Rorschach's image being tied to a racist group upset you? He was a racist...

He wasn't a racist .... he was an equal opportunity hater of everything and everybody.

He was molded after the far right conspiracy nuts that thought the minorities, liberals and immigrants were going to be the end of America. Just like The Comedian was an exaggerated depiction of the gun toting far right patriot. I'm just stating facts. I don't care about the politics of it all, it's the way Alan Moore intended for the characters to be viewed.

He's even quoted as saying something along the lines of Rorschach being a bad person and if you empathize or agree with him then you're a bad person too.

The Comedian was definitely a racist.

Dr Manhattan gave Laurie a huge clue to what is going on by dropping that car. That car connected Will Reeves to everything .... and it wasn't just a clue for Laurie, but a clue for Angela as well.

Dr Manhattan didn’t drop that car. Lady Trieu/Will Reeves did so that she could get the pills

need to do this - is the movie streaming anywhere currently?

It's not, at least not as of a month or so ago. I rented it on Google play before the show started.

Yeah it’s one of those movies that are impossible to find streaming. Hbo had it for a bit I believe but you have to rent it now.

I think amazon was charging 13 bucks to rent the directors cut too

HBO is missing the boat by not having is available to watch as this season is aired.

I know it was on Netflix for a while because it was one of those movies that was always on my list but I never got around to watching it before it went off.

I ended up reading the book over the summer and that made me want to watch the movie before the show started.

BTW, not too sound too much like a snob here, but I strongly recommend reading the comic over watching the movie (or do both). Not that the movie is bad, but I just feel that reading the comic gave me a much better understanding of the Watchmen universe than the movie ever could. I feel like I wouldn't be enjoying the show nearly as much if I didn't read it first.

Thought the same thing but figure either they are charging an arm and a leg for streaming rights or they don’t want to muddy the waters since they are going off the comic ending and not the movie ending

Thanks for rundown.

I don’t think it’s necessarily portrayed as an “existential threat” in the couple of episodes I watched, but comments from people involved made it seem like white supremacists were lurking around the corner.

Hear me, WS is evil and I hate it, I just think making them this villain that came out of Rorschach is lazy writing and projecting.

Sincerely appreciate the response. I canceled HBO for now but may be back.

You know that in the comic the paper that he gave his journal to was a right wing conspiracy paper that hitler was shown reading at some point right?

I just reread the whole series and don’t remember that but I’m not going to question you. The conspiracy paper was so randomly splattered through out that I could have missed it.

That being said, Rorschach’s theme was black and white (not race) justice, not supremacy of race. Again, I’m not looking for arguments.

It’s not about Rorschach being racist, it’s about this group of people taking his words and bending it to their own prejudices and their own issues.

It’s not lazy writing to connect the dot that if a conspiracy smut newspaper posted this journal, that the original intention gets lost in the final result.

I think people involved with making this saying that WS is on the rise and that this is art reflecting real life is lazy writing. But yes, manifestos or things like his journal could be misused for for whatever people wanted. I think picking the boogeyman de jour of WS is lazy writing.

Im just giving my interpretation and why I chose to stop watching. I’m not shitting on people still enjoying it, I’m glad something like the concept was green lit.

If I hadn’t read comments by Regina and Damon, I probably would have been fine.
