You were bitching about Moore's opinions a week ago.
His opinions of other viewing habits

This is his opinion of adaptations of HIS work. When the show came out, I called it a bastardization of his work. That it had nothing to do with the world he setup. Reduced it all to "White Minz bad lol #wypipo"

Moore agrees with me, it would seem.

This is like me praising Biden for releasing Pot prisoners. . . and you saying "but last week you were lambasting him over inflation"

Yeah, bud. Two different things.

This is pretty on brand for Alan Moore. Dude hates his stuff being touched by anyone but him.

He was pretty specific about the show, though.

They turned his property into CW's Green Arrow vs the KKK. . .but TV-MA. No nuance at all

It's just that no one here who dislikes the show has given me a valid reason for why the show is bad.

I like Regina King, but thought the theme of the show was not consistent with the graphic novel. And it isn't.

Well there’s no question why you like it, that’s for sure.

It has few thematic ties to the original novel. Black trauma isn't entertaining, it's exploitation in the usual Hollywood tradition. White liberals love making these things, it eases their white guilt and reinforces their savior complexes. Characters behave in ways that make zero sense. The show is a muddled mess with no nuance at all. Basically it's week after week of white man bad, black people are victims.

So you DON'T like the show?

80% of the show revolved around identity politics

He's right.

I too find the fascination with superheros by grown adults to be disturbing.

I remember idiots on here going to the mat, defending this show as consistent with the comic.

As do I. I remember people swearing that Rorschach was a white supremacist in the comics because he dropped the evidence off at the conspiracy news paper (which yes was very suspect.)

Nothing in the comics pointed to that for his character but people pointed to a bunch of articles saying Moore wrote Rorschach as a WS.

That was just a stupid time where everybody liked to make WS as the bad guy and thought they were fighting for the good guys by doing it.

Eta: white supremacy is indeed bad. Just in case I needed to clarify.

Rorschach's broad public image was changed by how he was portrayed in the movie. People saw him just as this gritty vigilante who took the law into his own hands, and especially here in America a lot of us can get behind that. He isn't supposed to be an admirable character going by the comics though, and I feel like the show just took that fact and tried to bash the audience over the head with it.

I enjoyed parts of the show. I try to not stew in the fact that we are constantly bludgeoned with various versions of "the historical plight of 13% of the country's population is the most important thing that ever happened ever" but the story just isn't that good to begin with here and you'll see in my post history I'm more than willing to give things a chance (HotD, RoP, etc).

No, you're right, that's not the message of the show at all.

I thought it was ridiculously self-indulgent.

Though I admit, actually seeing the tentacle monster almost made it worth the watch.

I watched one episode. It was comically bad. Racial shite is all these people know how to do, and always in the clumsiest, cringiest, most ham-handed way, for which I blame modern media.

I didn't need the author to tell me it sucks. It just objectively sucks.
