It's really easy to tell who grew up in the 80's and who didn't on this board. ABC played Bond movies almost every week during the 80's.
I agree with about everyone else here as far as starting with Casino Royale. Quantum blows though.
And screw what you've heard about Roger Moore, some of his movies are great. And IMO none of them are as bad as every Pierce Brosnan one besides Golden Eye.

One of the best in my opinion. I believe Connery decided to retire, but then something happened with Lazenby that the producers didn't want him back or he didn't want to do it again. Not sure the history behind it. So they got Connery back. Connery also did his own Bond apart from the main series. This one is called "Never Say Never Again"
Apparently Lazenby didn't get along well with Diana Rigg. There's an anecdote about her eating garlic before all their kissing scenes

Basically a remake of Thunderball with Connery in his mid-50s.
If you ever played the old Goldeneye 64 game, you will definitely like the movie as well. That's kinda how I started watching 007 movies.

I watched You Only Live Twice for the first time the other day. I was amazed at how bad the special effects were.

did she do that intentionally to spite him, or was she just oblivious and rude?

Part of the appeal of the series were the cool gadgets that seem rather pedestrian by today's standards. Except for ejector seats, those will always be cool.

Supposedly the former

Would not stop me at all. Not even a second thought.

That's why I never got the hate for Roger Moore. I loved him. He was Bond when I was growing up.
Seriously, I think Craig has become the person I think of when I think of Bond. THAT'S how good his movies are.
Quantum doesn't make much sense, but Craig was on point. Skyfall was great, but I will always remember seeing Casino Royale and saying, "Holy shite. This dude is a new type of bad-arse."

Yeah, go with watching the first 3-4 Connery Bonds then skip ahead to Casino Royale. After you finish watching the Craig movies (or even before you watch CR) check out On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
The Moore Bonds were pretty cheesey but Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me are pretty decent.

You love him because he was James Bond when you were growing up, just as I love Pierce Brosnan because he was Bond when I was growing up.
Roger Moore, however, was a mediocre Bond that I couldn't take seriously as a secret agent. I could believe Connery, Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig to be capable of killing and sexing, but Moore and Lazenby were nothing but two bit dandies in my eyes. Not to mention that the vast majority of Moore's movies were cheesy and sub-par. The only two that I really liked were The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only. The rest were just average to mediocre.

The image of a 60 year old Moore running around in A View To A Kill speaks to this post. Can't believe they kept him on for that long.

Pierce Brosnan is my favorite Bond as well.

Dr. No (Connery)
Goldfinger (Connery)
Thunderball (Connery)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Lazenby)
Live and Let Die (Moore)
The Spy Who Loved Me (Moore)
License to Kill (Dalton)
Goldeneye (Brosnan)
Casino Royale (Craig)
Those are the must see Bonds that cover each Bond actor...in my opinion, of course.

My top 5 Bond movies are.
1. Goldfinger
2. The Spy who loved me
3. Dr No
4. Thubderball
5. From Russia with love.
Golden Eye is OK as was Casino Royal , but this new Bond guy is very bad as is the last two Bond films.
Set the movies in the 60s or 70s.

For Your Eyes Only is a very underrated 007 film that showed Moore could play the part well when given a script that wasn't ludicrous
