And screw what you've heard about Roger Moore, some of his movies are great. And IMO none of them are as bad as every Pierce Brosnan one besides Golden Eye.
i agree with this.
also wish brosnan wasn't given such shitty films. goldeneye is one of my favorites and I think he was a good bond.
to OP much of the advice given here is good.
starting with casino royale and going forward to skyfall is a good place to start, then honestly I would start back at dr. no. i'd watch them all, but im a bond nerd.

always thought Moonraker was the shite. jumped all over different landscapes and then into space. Had Jaws in it. the best "old" one IMO.

If you want to watch Jaws, watch The Spy Who Loved Me.

Agreed. And it's not like Bond didn't jump all over different landscapes in every single one

The ONLY Bond films worth watching, IMHO:
-Casino Royale (not just a great Bond film, but a great film in general)
-Thunderball
-Goldfinger
-From Russia With Love
-Dr. No
-The Living Daylights
-Goldeneye
-The World Is Not Enough
-On Her Majesty's Secret Service
-Skyfall
Those are my personal favorites. The rest are meh, enjoyable, but meh... One thing you have to understand about Bond films is many of them can be very, very complex. Unlike your typical films, the stories contain so much depth and substance, therefore you're not likely going to comprehend everything that's going on after the first viewing. So if you have ADD, they're going to be hard to follow.
Other than that, enjoy! There's a reason the Bond franchise is the most successful film franchise in cinema history...

watched dr. no today. I was a little worried about the production value holding up over time but I was pleasantly surprised. I downloaded in 720p Blu-ray so that may have helped a bit. I liked it a lot I think i'm going to just watch them all in order. it may take me a while to get through them but it seems it will be worth it. also honey ryder

I say this because many Americans claim they don't understand Bond films, hence why garbage like the Transporter, Transformers and Bourne are so popular in this country. Simple and easily understandable stories/plots take a backseat to the excessive action scenes, where as some thought and knowledge has to be applied to Bond films...
With that being said, double

And I find that the first film of each new Bond is very good. I.e., Dr. No, Goldeneye, Casino Royale, etc.

My favorite Bond classic is The Man With The Golden Gun. Man, I love that movie.

Yeah, go with watching the first 3-4 Connery Bonds then skip ahead to Casino Royale. After you finish watching the Craig movies (or even before you watch CR) check out On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
The Moore Bonds were pretty cheesey but Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me are pretty decent.
Well said. Thats precisley my recommendation.

i'm kind of interested in catching skyfall and want to begin the arc that will lead me there.
That wouldn't be bad. There are a couple things that you'll see in the earlier ones if you watch them afterwards that will make you go, "Hey wait a minute. Wasn't that....." I won't say it, no spoilers.
My favs are For Your Eyes Only, The Spy Who Loved Me, Live and Let Die.
Runner ups-Diamonds are Forever, A View To A Kill.
The Timothy Dalton ones.
Casino Royale is a good flick. I saw Skyfall in the theatre and it was decent. I wasn't blown away by it but it's a good popcorn flick.
Gotta start somewhere!
