Was Nip/Tuck ahead of its time and should it come back now?

It ran for 6 seasons on FX beginning in 2003. Hard to believe it’s been 21 years since it debuted.

Nah it would probably have some tranny shite on it these days

There was a transgender woman on the show dude

It was part of the early 2000s wave of longform storytelling....mostly a product of it's time.
Great show, it felt unique.
But it would be nothing terribly special today.
And just be another modern edgy soap opera. But it had its time and place so it stood out like Six Feet Under at the time or later Dexter.

Nip/tuck and chappelle show around the same time provided equal shock value to mainstream tv

Loved it, but it jumped the shark at some point. Hard to point out when, though, maybe even in the pilot. I haven't re-watched--only watched as it aired--but pretty sure the 1st episode was about a really big fat woman who never moved and her fat fused with the couch threads so she couldn't get up, and they had to remove her from it. Can't decide if it was a terrible show or fricking awesome. But I lean towards the latter. Except for Matt--he fricking sucked. A great answer for the "tv kids who suck" thread currently on the 1st page that I bet nobody has mentioned yet.

One of the greatest & most insane shows of all time. It would not be able to be made today with the exact same cast. Whatever happened to actress who played Kimber? She was stunning.

Typical Ryan Murphy product that comes out strong but then instantly dials it up to a degree that just loses all sense or grounding

I should’ve been less subtle

Show was mightily influential in me going thru puberty

To this day I don’t find Framke Jansen attractive IRL because of her role as Ava in Nip/Tuck.

Had a great music supervisor for the series.

The show has not aged well. It's pretty frickin wack from even the first couple episodes. I find it hard to rewatch, and yes it definitely jumps the shark quick.

I’d say the Rosie O’Donnell era

When that chick they refused to do a prophylactic mastectomy on (despite having zero evidence of breast cancer mind you) chopped her titties off with an electric filet knife in the waiting room to “force them” to do it, I turned the TV off and quit right there.

Where's it streaming? I wouldn't mind revisiting it for an episode or so. If only to watch Kimber a few more times.
And what happened to Julian McMahon (Christian Troy). I thought he was gonna be a huge star. I know he was in a couple of terrible Fantastic Four movies, but I don't really remember seeing him in much else. Seems like the other doctor wound up having a much better career (never became a star, but was certainly a working actor. I've seen him in a ton of stuff). Actress that played Kimber didn't really take off either. But as hot as she was, you could tell by the end she was aging and wouldn't have a very long shelf-life.
Embarrassingly, a few years ago, I got talked into binging a good bit of "How to Get Away with Murder" and Matt had a decently big part one season as an attorney? Been a while, but I think maybe he was an ADA that wound up getting promoted to DA? Regardless, couldn't buy him in that role. I'm sure he did fine, but he'll always be shitty fricking Matt to me. But to give him the benefit of the doubt, as with all characters we tend to hate, it's hard to tell if it's personality of the actor coming through on the screen or if it's just the writing and they're actually doing a good job of portraying what's on the page. Either way, he sucked.
