they think theaters are still a net good.

They are a net good. There's no way that Universal could afford to produce a Christopher Nolan film if they had to rely on Peacock revenues.

Without the box office all of the major studios will have to greatly reduce their current output. That reduction would also spell the end of their respective streaming services which rely on not only major releases but also the box office to subsidize them.

The only competition left standing would be Netflix, Amazon and Apple. If you think that less competition will result in more "bang for your buck" you're ignoring history.

Wish apple would buy WB

The golden age of choice in television is grinding to a halt as consolidation will kill off tons of originals

Not counting the stuff they recently got from HBO, what movies does Netflix have? Serious question. I dropped them in around 2016 when they lost all of the Starz content. I wasn't into streaming TV shows back then and couldn't find anything to watch.

Netflix is known for writing checks and taking a hands-off approach to creative. Not sure how you blame the studio for the writers blowing it.

Selling to Paramount would be much better from a consumer standpoint than selling to Netflix.

Not at all. Paramount is just as trash as Netflix when it comes to pumping out soul less, mediocre films and shows. Look at the new Starfleet Academy show they just shitted out.

frick all of them. frick Netflix, frick HBO Max, frick Paramount, and frick Warner Bros, frick Apple, frick Amazon, and frick Disney. None of these companies have any interest in creating original IP projects anymore. They want quantity over quality to maximize profits.

Say what you want abt the quality of Netflix IP, but to say they don't churn out original IP is just flat wrong.

Obviously you would think so. You have to, you're trying to win an argument on the internet

Many didn't. It's 53% audience score makes it on par with Liam Hemsworth's Witcher.

Smith has essentially been on a 5 year apology tour since he released the turd. Who woulda thunk a He-Man show without He-Man would be shite?

They even shadow-dropped a hastily "shite out" third part just to feature the main character. It was pathetic.

"Look guys! It is totally He-man now, please watch it"

Please tell me why. Other than your nostalgia for the movie theater, what are the cons? I get Netflix originals, their impressive film catalogue, plus Warner Bros. and HBO content all in one streaming app.

Consolidation means tightening their grip on a creative industry. Netflix has rapidly descended into a creator of shite-spam. If they buy up WB, they'll still be a creator of shite-spam. They're currently starting to buy big time into the anime market. They'll frick that up, because that's what investor-driven business does. It sucks the life out of something good and leaves the corpse to rot. And you won't get cheaper because the more control they have, the less leverage you as a consumer has to choose.

Consolidation has happened dramatically in nearly every large industry. In the creative industries, the results are very apparent. Big budgets to make garbage.

WB will reengage Paramount only to squeeze more juice out of Netflix.
