Read the original Rolling Stone article on the real guys that they are portraying. It is crazy. I believe the article was called, the Stoner Arms Dealers, or something to that effect.

Something about him doesn't sit right with me, although he was great in Whiplash. I think he looks too dorkish to be in this type of role? I can't quite put my finger on it, but so far I'm not buying into it from what I've seen

I agree that he is kind of nerdy, but he's really starting to shine in serious roles. Have you checked out Bleed for This Trailer

It's a solid movie. Hill was really good.
The story started out pretty well, but then it kinda ended abruptly. Left me wanting a little more meat to the story. But I'm sure Hollywood didn't stick to the "true story"
But overall pretty solid. Teller came thru with a few sporadic funny moments.

Don't like Miles Teller except in Whiplash, but I'll admit that this looks promising. Also like someone else already stated, fat Jonah Hill is always good news.
