'Walking Dead' Expansion Plans Revealed: Andrew Lincoln to Lead 3 AMC Movies
quote:

The actor, who officially departed the flagship series Sunday, will reprise his role as Rick Grimes in a trio of big-budget, feature-length movies that will air on the basic cable network as content chief officer Scott M. Gimple talks with The Hollywood Reporter about his larger plan for the franchise.

I kinda like the idea of movies as it should cut out most of the boring filler. In a typical 16 episode season you get 8-10 episodes of boring filler. Hopefully the movies will get straight to the point and cut out the crap.

The fans: "Walking Dead has been pretty lame lately, maybe it's time to wrap it up."

TWD writers: "Rick is gonna die this season. Maaaaaaaaaaaybe."

The fans: "Okay, way to mix it up. Let's see what you got."

TWD writers: "Rick isn't dead at all! He's just going to be in a bunch of movies now. hahaha "

The fans: "Oh you. Okay, I'll watch the movies."

rick grimes is a good character, it's not the actor's fault that the writing has been inconsistent. i was ready for TWD to move on without him, but not necessarily excited for rick to die

i want to see what else is going on in the world outside of suburban DC

I stopped watching a couple years ago, how did they send rick off on the show?

First movie, Rick's search for his BFF Morgan.

Hopefully the films will be self-contained stories and not never-ending serials like the two series.

According to AMC’s press release, the first feature-length Walking Dead installment will pick up after tonight’s episode, in which Grimes is wounded but in the process of being rescued via helicopter. The movie will subsequently “explore the story of where Rick is taken and what he faces in a new corner of the zombie apocalypse.”

obviously the issue with this is that we just spent nine years and one long fever-dream episode detailing exactly what lengths rick grimes will go to to protect "his family"

presumably, once he's recovered he would go to any length (again) to find them (again). you would think he will have to be physically restrained at all times to keep him "there" and not back home

Cool, another zombie movie that I won't watch.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the zombie resurgence after the 28 days later/dawn of the dead movies in the early 00's, but it has run its course at this point.

Exactly. I feel like FTWD had a real shot to do some different things, but by mid season 1, it was already exactly like TWD following the main group from settlement to settlement.

Hoping that helicopter has enough fuel to get him to the Playboy Mansion.

When it became evident that they would never explain what led to the zombie apocalypse or hope of potential cures I jumped ship. It's the transformers of TV dramas.

He will be taken to the U.K. That way they can film the show there and he could be there with his IRL family

He will have no means of getting back to Alexandria
