They need to bite the bullet and do lead in movies broken into character stories before the ensemble. It’s just too much to throw them all together in one movie. Play the long game.
Also, they’re going to have to recast Wolverine at some point.
For me peak X Men was the Phoenix saga, Days of Futures Past and the Wolverine mini series. But I’m old and those have been done (poorly IMO).
What are good post 80’s story arcs that would work for you youngsters?
Also, they’re going to have to recast Wolverine at some point.

The Proteus saga was good. And Alpha Flight, but no way that works with all of the characters involved. I'd like to see a dedicated movie of the Hellfire Club.
Really, any of the old Chris Claremont stories from like issue 94- 140 were incredible.

quote:it is funny 2028 will be the 20th anniversary of the start of the MCU with Iron Man in 2008. i'm not sure the XMEN outside of Wolverine have the star power for stand alone movies though.

Exactly. You don't do a Fantastic Four movie AFTER introducing each one in a lead-in movie; same with the original X-Men. Maybe little vignettes as to what they were doing as a lead- in like Singer's original X-Men, or X-Men First Class.

Absolutely.
I’ll never understand how they veered so far off the Wolverine Miller series.

I get it BUT in the FF you only have 4 characters. X-Men could who knows how many and I don’t think it works to throw too big of an ensemble together and try to squeeze an entire story arc into one movie because half of them have nothing to do.
In X2 I was stoked to see colossus - and he was just in one scene.
My thought was you have a hell of a lot of potential here so be smart about planning it out like was done with the OG MCU.

Is it 2008 again?

I don't think we'll see a large cast for the first X Men movie.
Jean Grey has already been introduced
We know we're getting Cyclops and Emma Frost
Highly likely we'll get Magneto and Charles announced soon
Storm likely isn't coming until BP 3
Wolverine is probably not getting introduced anytime soon
Others I could see getting introduced into the first X Men movie are Beast, Nightcrawler, Rogue, and maybe Magik

I understand that viewpoint but I agree with the others that unlike the avengers, the X-men have only come as a team. Other than Wolverine I don’t recall any of the others having solo comics, at least not long running successful ones. It’s not hard to introduce the X-men in one movie. Personally I like the roster from the mid 80s. When Emma Frost was a villain in the Hellfire Club.

Deadpool did Colossus pretty good

I do too. I have the issue where the XMen got trashed by the Hellfire Club in their HQ….with that great Byrne last panel of Wolverine coming out of the sewer.
Pissed I don’t have the next one.
