Green Book

This will get the media push, just as moonlight did.

It just wreaks of Oscar Bait for this "new, enlightened" breed of votersa and media slobbering.

Except that it's actually a good movie. Way more legitimate as a mainstream film for the general public.

Not saying that this possible list of nominees is awful, but I've definitely seen a lot better.

ASIB already has this one locked up, IMHO.

i've seen a few good ones, but like you said - nothing great.

I think Hereditary was great for it's genre. Probably one of the best horror movies I have ever seen.

I can count on one hand the number of superhero films that I thought transcended the action/popcorn level. BP ain't one of them.

But we were told it was a cultural event.

We were told it was far more than a superhero movie.

Schools were bussing kids to see it.

Up there with where were you when:

OJ verdict was read?

When Rodney King riots happened?

When Obama was elected?

When Black Panther hit theaters?

Lousy list of Best Pic nominees. A Star Is Born is in a different stratosphere compared to the others. Haven't seen Roma, If Beale Street Could Talk, or The Rider yet, but the rest are only decent movies, not Best Pic-caliber at all IMO.

Without giving away spoilers I can tell you that Green Book checks off every box on the current Oscars checklist. And it does it without overly pandering to black or white audiences. I'll be shocked if there are enough nominees to knock it off of the Best Picture list.
All true re: checking the boxes. But it's not that great of a movie. Good, yes. But nothing more.

I say again: Black Panther wasn’t even the best Marvel movie this year.

A star is born deserves it but im worried the media will push for Green Book..

the one thing that makes me think this wont work is Bradley Cooper is loved in Hollywood

Everything I've read, including from people on this board, is that Green Book is a really good movie.

I love Oscar bait and usually try to watch all of the nominated films between November and February, but man this is a bad year. Nothing that interests me.

In fairness I haven't seen either, but I still prefer to see something original win over a remake

Green book and star is born are the two most deserving. Star is born is in from right now but it will come down to who pushes for it more and back door deals.

Only one of these I’ve seen is BlacKKKlansman and I’d give it a 6 at best.

Good, yes. But it would be the most mediocre Best Picture winner since The Artist or Crash.
