Sports movies aren't really great movies, IMO

Only baseball and boxing movies can be really great.

How can a sports movie come anything close to Return of the King?

Not sure if serious pic.

Field of Dreams was practically made for me. My dad played very low minor league ball (he played for LSU). We downright hated each other when I was young. I said some stupid, awful things because I was young, stupid, and awful. He died when I was 23. Luckily, we had our mending fences moment, quite literally, the week before he died (not expected, he wasn't dying).

Having the ghoast of your dad to come back and play catch with you is sort of my perfect afterlife. Though I did leave a baseball on a grave.

Good to hear you and your dad made up. I'm sure it was rough losing him so young.

You don't have to like baseball to like Field of Dreams. Watch it. You will at least enjoy it if anything.

And sports movies can be awesome. They sometimes stir more emotion out of me than many other movies. I'm sure this is because I can put myself in a similar circumstamce or a dream of one of those climactic moments. I can't relate to fighting orgs in middle earth, no matter how good of a movie it might be.

I dont like baseball (minus the stint every kid had with the early 90s Braves; stuck with some, not with others) so that's why I figure I like most baseball movies and find little to no fault in them.

Wow that movie does have some special meaning to you. Sounds like it really hit home. Sorry your early childhood was ruff with him but at least it ended on good terms which is probably comforting. It took me growing up to realize my dad was not a good husband to my mom and he has some bad qualities but he was a good dad to me growing up. He always has wanted me to succeed and pushed me hard, which is nice. He is still alive but I am dang sure giving him a call tomorrow.

Oh, we're gonna go there? Should Baloo handle this one? BTW, Pump of the Volume was 1990 so replace it with Repo Man.
