Does this movie qualify?

If it hits 80, that's awesome for theaters. That number seems really high. The "opening day" total includes the $10+ million from Wednesday and Thursday preview screenings.

80 would require the Saturday and Sunday grosses both be higher than the Friday's, which would be rare. Regardless, this is doing much better than projected.

Solid 8/10 for me.
Has one call back to the original that was cool to see. (SPOILERish) I'm glad they didn't do something cheesy like make Helen Hunt the lead's mom.
Visuals were amazing, science not so much but it's Hollywood.
Glenn Powell is really good

Fun summer popcorn action flicks never go out of style, just need a decent script and Talent that understands what you’re making.

Just got out. Theater was sold out. Most fun movie I've seen in a while. No lulls.

It was a total flop, just got out of it and it’s by far the worst and cheesiest, most unrealistic movie I’ve seen in my life Same plot, same characters, different actors as the first one. Exactly. Putting 20 barrels of maxi pad absorption beads up into a massive tornado makes the tornado completely stop and vanish

Entertaining arse movie. Especially for modern Hollywood. Sure it’s cheesy in some parts… but pretty original.

Saw it tonight, fun movie. Noticed a couple call backs to the first one but not as many as I thought I’d see. I recommend it.

I had never seen or heard of him before season one of Scream Queens and came away thinking he stole the show. The dude was my favorite character and was absolutely hilarious in it.

Agreed. That first season was pretty good watch in general. Then the follow up was not.

I saw an interview where the director told people to essentially frick off because they were pissed the twisters weren’t caused by climate change

I’ll go see it this weekend for that reason

Dorothy was the only call back I noticed. Was the mom in the original or something?

I used to go to the movies all the time but hate most of the crap Hollywood puts out. Similar to Maverick this movie reminded me why I go to movies. Competent cast, no agenda, great visuals, decent story, just an all around fun time.

No, they showed an actual picture of the original cast at Kate's home. Based on the original script, I think they were trying to say Kate was Helen Hunter and Bill Paxton's daughter but they, obviously could not cast them

If you notice, they never say her full name nor her mother's

Glad that didn't work out. That would have been too cheesy. As it stands it wouldn't be crazy for her to have pictures of them since they were from the area and were probably highly regarded in the storm-chasing community.
