I say True.

Thoughts?

I don't know if she's necessarily better, but I think Meryl Streep is more versatile. She can act, dance, sing, you name it.

Her range has proven to be soooooo wide. I could easily picture Meryl Streep in Fargo.

She was working class in Silkwood and portrayed Julia Chiles.

She would've likely been better than Frances Mcdormand in Fargo.

You straight up have her dick in your mouth

True. Frances McDormand is one of those actors who are always good, even in a bad movie.

McDormand has taken far more interesting roles.
And she didn't pick them thinking they would get her an Oscar. She is great. She is two years older than me. Been a little infatuated with her since Blood Simple.

Honestly, I would put Nicole Kidman over both- you dive deep into her filmography and she has unbelievable range.

I'm not a huge FM fan, but Meryl Streep is the most overrated actress of all time.

Streep is the Queen of Acting School Acting: always the right mannerism, never the right manner.

Agreed. Meryl Streep has always irritated me and I usually skip movies that she is in.

There's not one single Frances Mcdormand role that Meryl Streep couldn't perform in her sleep. Not one.

There's no way Streep is believable as a sexy, absent MILF in Laurel Canyon. That's not McDormand's best role by any stretch, but Streep couldn't touch it. Best she could hope for was something like what she did in Adaptation, and McDormand would've done that much better, too. Couldn't do Man Who Wasn't There, either.

Streep couldn't pull off Ebbing, MO, either. Only Streep role I can't see McDormand doing is Wintour in Devil Wears Prada.

McDormand is a better actress.

I say true, but I also admit my perception is tainted a bit by political bias.

I think you're probably on to something here man.

By almost any measure, Meryl Streep is a better actress than Frances Mcdormand. She's ok and all but alot of her roles have been fairly mundane without much range. Meryl Streep though runs the entire spectrum and does everything well.

This Meryl Streep hate is somewhat inexplicable and might be just a little political.

Frances McDormand has also used her platform at award shows to bring attention to social issues

I think everyone that's built up McDormand, at Streep's expense, has been a man. McDormand can act, AND she's attractive. Maybe I'm shallow, but my shallowness has nothing to do with politics.

I do deeply resent Streep's politics.

However, to your point, Streep may have the most outstanding resume' for doing immersive accents, alongside DDL. She's flawlessy transformed into an Aussie, Russian, Brit, German, Swede, New Yorker, West Coaster, Midwesterner, etc. some muliple times only with a different take of the same region.

She's been a leading lady. She's been a character actor. She's been a a character actor as a lead. She's portrayed the vunerable, demure, naive, wicked, uppity, demanding, selfish, self-assured, etc. She's done theater, dramas, comedies, period pieces, biopics, musicals. She can sing/dance/act.

I love McDormand's work, but I don't think this is even a contest.

My all time favorite Eastwood story:

Just before starting The Bridges Of Madison County he met with Streep and asked her, "You're not gonna do an accent, are you?"

Exactly what I was going to post. She does everything right but it's just very paint by numbers and she doesn't seem quite natural

Hot take - Devil Wears Prada is one of Streep's top performances.

So they would have had to of given her the "Even Better Than Best Actress" award at the Oscars.

McDormand is a better actress and Streep is the most overrated actress or actor in the past 20 years. She's a good actress, but she isn't nearly as good as what Hollywood makes her out to be.
