Why go through the effort of digging a grave for Frank and then leave him on the ground after fatally stabbing him?

they said "we made a nice bed for you Frank, go lay in it"

they wanted him to give up, they wanted to strip him of all pride, that was the point of trying to take his suit

remember the scene when Frank first met the Mexicans? how he was arrogant and cocky and didn't take them seriously?

I thought he said something like 'lie down Frank." But don't trust my recall its often faulty.

SPOILERS

The Mexicans got Frank? Really? WTF? Just terrible. This season had its ups and downs. The first season was better. But, I think both seasons had bad endings.

It was a given for sure...But why did they sell him out? I thought Frank was very generous to them

They always seemed to hate him for some reason. The one that was always on the right especially

I agree taking the suit was an intended insult given the way Frank handled them in their initial meeting. I'm still not convinced they weren't going to allow him to live.

I felt like they didn't see any reason to help Frank by offering him a drive back to the city. Would he have died out there? Who knows?

The ending was pretty bad. I have been really liking the show for the last few weeks, but I think they dropped the ball. I wasn't expecting a happy ending, but this was more of a stupid ending.

agree. Wasn't expecting a everyone wins scenario but it felt like the whole finale was forced. Felt disappointed watching it.

Why would he even pay the Armenians at that point. I know he's an "honorable" gangster but with the passing of the torch, he would know they would sell him out.

Well ... he had to go there to get the passports and such. So, he had to pay them. I guess he could have killed them.

I didn't have any problems with the ending, but the contrast between Ray in the first gunfight of the season (not terrible but nothing special) then the train station spaz out, then he takes out 2 or 3 special forces guys armed with m4s with multiple handgun headshots...that was kind of laughable.

Can someone explain what I missed on the passport deal, why did he need a passport from them, as opposed to his own passport?

The moment they started playing up Frank's devotion to his wife and her likewise feelings for him you just knew he was a dead man. The sappy conversation about meeting in Venezuela sealed the deal. That’s just Hollywood writing 101. He never had a chance.

Yep...same with Ray "He's on his way. He's fine." Dead man walking.

You're right.

But you'd think he'd be more cautious with the long game in play. They knew he had all kinda of money and was getting out of town. They had every incentive to sell him out, especially with that the Mexies may have offered.

I believe they were going to allow Frank to live but more importantly, as it relates to this scene and the ultimate outcome, I believe Frank knew they were going to allow him to live.

That's the reason why Frank requested a ride back to the city. It’s a request made by a man who knows a deal has been struck and his life is being spared. If Frank truly believed he was about to die he would have been in serious bargaining mode offering the Mexicans anything he could think of to extend his life. But he does none of that. He asked for a ride home.

That’s what makes Frank head butting the Mexican taking his suit so problematic for me. Forget the diamonds. Everything we’ve discerned about Frank says he gives them the suit and the diamonds and lives to fight another day.

Look, I watched every episode and didn't really bitch too much. There were some good episodes mixed in.

But this was not a good season, for a variety of reasons.

The plot was WAY WAY too convoluted. It made no sense, the "villians" were horribly established and no one knew who the hell they were by name. There were way too many characters that were pointless. Frank's plotline ended up being completely worthless.

I'm totally fine with the good guys not winning, but this was just terrible, convoluted, and cheap. The writing made very little sense.

If he does another season I would say: Simplify. Pair down the relevant characters. Make everything about the two detectives and everyone else is background noise. Have the killings be a bit clearer and something primal, that many can relate to. Have the conspiracy and mystery slowly unravel, but make sense.

except that would go against what he said earlier in the episode when he was talking to Velcoro talking about how he didn't live his life to go out this way (being punked or pushed out)

Frank had too much pride, the Mexicans knew he had too much pride, thus the reason why they tried to take his suit, to embarrass him, to strip him of everything

Frank wasn't going to go out like that

Yea, it is confusing for me as well.

He could have also offered the diamonds if he really thought he was going to die. Maybe he just put pride first? Seems silly though to die over what ultimately boils down to a suit after you've come that far.

I think that's the reason why they showed the visions as he was walking through the desert. They were trying to reestablish his character.

But he wasn't going out. Frank was surviving IMHO. Frank was old school. He would have understood the need to humiliate him and would have allowed them to do so. He knew the game.

Frank doesn't throw his life away with his wife waiting.
