Just read an article on reddit that compares this series to the real life "Jeff Davis 8" murders out in LC. Anyone else know about this?

So this is pretty the much the plot to the new HBO show True Detectives? SC Louisiana murders involving women who participated in prostitution and drugs.

the "jeff davis 8" was a rash of killing of drug addicts/prostitutes around jennings. there is nothing ritualistic or occult about the killings. there are allegations of a cover up, but no proof. the case was investigated by "higher up" agencies like the FBI also. it wasn't that hidden

it popped up in the social consciousness a couple weeks ago...and then a body was found in lake arthur (which i haven't heard much about). it was a big deal a few years ago but really died down once it got major exposure
rumors of cops, drug dealer/pimps, and corners being the murderer...but nothing related to the occult.
