Anyone confused by Ginger sticking with Rust and not trying to flee. Him scaling the fence seemed out of place. Yes, he knew Rust was probably going to keep him alive, but Ginger acting logically while coked up and pistol-whipped seemed off. Beyond that, best hour of TV in a long time.

I don't think CGI was used in that scene.

Hmmm even Marty was using the eye mirror in this episode.
IMO I think Rust uses it as a focus exercise or something along those lines.

Anyone else think that the plot to rob a ghetto with 3 dudes with biker beards dressed as cops and 1 dude with a leather jackets driving up in a Tahoe is just about the dumbest fricking idea ever?
love the show, but that whole sequence was a tad over the top and unbelievable.
agreed. Up till now the show has been flawless, but it went off the rails this episode IMO. The ghetto scene was a little too far reaching.
Here are just a few of the questions that I had:
How is it we saw a dozen or so TPOS on the drive into the hood, but MM didn't encounter a single one in the block he had to walk to get to the stash house?
How the hell does Marty know where Rust is? Does Marty have an intimate knowledge of Beaumont's hood(s)and city streets?
How does Rust put half of a # of shite up his nose and yet maintain his composure throughout the "job"?
How did 2 LSP troopers stroll into Beaumont and kidnap a drug slinging biker without anyone asking WTF? (I realize this one might get answered in future episodes)
Not enough bad stuff here to make me lose respect for the show or not still call it superb, but this sequence was just way too far out there.

I can see how people see rust escape as unlikely. However I just think he is a seasoned bad arse
This has probably been brought up already, but I'd love to see a movie about Rust's undercover years.

i did LOL at that exchange. Very well done. I like that Rust detaches himself from Marty's struggles.

not CGI…great interview online with Cary Fukunaga about shooting that scene it is one 6 minute long continuous shot. they had the camera operator hooked into a big elevated boom that picked him up over the fence and put him down on the other side. they had to choreograph so much stuff like when to release the extras running into the street, wen the cop cars would show up, etc…
All in one take…shot at a real projects

Do you listen to the AfterShowBuzz podcast or youtube channel? That's exactly what they said about that scene & Fukunaga.

I was referring to their entry into the hood. Rust pretty much slid right up to the front door but never encountered anyone.

fair enough. Still find it a bit of a stretch. but WTH, its entertainment.

there was some narco blog I stumbled upon once (once). "What has been scene cannot be unscene" is quite fitting for such sites.

This was the only minor issue I had with the entire episode.

My wife asked this, too. I think he did it because although Rust had him at gun point, it was still his only chance to stay alive or stay out of jail. Remember, he has no idea that Rust is a detective at that point. Should he run unarmed into the gun battle between the bikers, ghetto, and cops? Or follow what the guy with the gun tells him to do?

I almost forgot to mention this. Maggie pissed me off during the diner scene. Rust went out of his way to meet with her and she decided to make the statement "I bet you were a good husband" with a slight smirk on her face.

Yep. And there goes my theory on what causes the falling out between Marty and Rust.
