It's a little old, but still interesting nonetheless.

Bully Documentary and the MPAA

Bully wanted a PG-13 rating so that it could be viewed by those people it was trying to help. But the MPAA refused because the "children" in the movie cussed so much... so the MPAA is protecting children from seeing other children cuss/bully in a movie designed to try and raise awareness of the dangers surrounding bullying.

MPAA are fricking clueless

Anyone seen "This Film is not Yet Rated"? The film is priceless and you know just ridiculously pissed off the hypocrites of the MPAA.

Matt and Trey are beyond necessary these days. Truly equal opportunity offenders are rare and they've even offended ME a few times. That's why I watch every damn week.

yea it's pretty messed up how gory violence is seen as "less offensive" than a female orgasm

To be fair, a female organism could be incredibly offensive to women who have never had one, and men who have never seen one.

jack fricking valenti

but seriously, arguments about the MPAA are always kind of touchy because it is a completely private organization/regulation

new media may help destroy the power base of the MPAA down the road (because we will be able to get movies outside of the theater/studio distribution system), but as long as we buy/view movies from studios who participate in the MPAA, then we're stuck with it

I just watched that film a few weeks before I saw my grandmother and she said that she'd rather watch people die on screen than see any of that sex stuff.

My thing is the MPAA semms terribly inconsistent. There are plenty of movies IMO, that are PG-13, that, based on their standards seemed like they should have been R and vise versa. R movies that seem like PG-13 movies is more common it seems though.

I'm with you on that

Shouldn't most of us be happy if we live a life full of sex and absent violence? And yet, we are more comfortable with the violence and shy away from sex.
