Probably better throw the A/S/L out there to be on the safe side.

Oh, and my scariest movie was the one where Patrick Swayze was a ghost. Can't remember the name.

Halloween H2O. Watched it as a kid and was scared of the dark for a week.

Star Wars Episode I. Not the content of course, but for years up until I was about 16 I had a recurring dream of Darth Maul pursuing me through some house. I would always hide under some bed, he'd walk in the room, look around, walk out. I would start to get out from under the bed, and suddenly his face would appear inches from mine, then I'd wake up.

Heavyweights.

this one bothered me too (i don't really ever get scared of a movie) but it bothered me because i saw it before i knew it was fake. i had been out of town for a long time and just never got the message. of course i realized it was fake during the movie but up until that point [thinking it was a legitimate video that was so compelling that it made it to the big screen (naive, i know)] the events like the kid sounds in the woods, the beating on the tent, the rocks...some pretty creepy shite and realistic enough to keep me into it

This is key when talking about The Blair Witch Project. I went in to the movie knwoing it wasn't real, but I watched the movie as if it was real. It freaked me out, especially at the end. The way it was filmed added to the film. It also didn't help that at the time the movie came out, I was living in a barn that was converted into a triplex apartment in the middle of an apple orchard in Upstate New York.

If someone went in knowing it was fake, I can understand how they would not like the movie or think it was scary.
