Downplaying Aladdin is silly.
I'm not downplaying Aladdin. I literally said it would probably be a top 3 movie of any other decade.
This also isn't a hot take. I googled "Best Disney Soundtracks" and the top four search results lists, two had Mulan ranked higher and two had Aladdin ranked higher. Both of them top 10 in all the lists. Mulan is one of the better Disney soundtracks of all time, so is Aladdin. It's silly to think it's some universal opinion that Aladdin is better.

* K-pop Demon Hunters
Sony animation (Spider-verse movies) has outclassed a girl brand like Disney with a movie about a girl band.
Ha!
* I know, it deserves its own thread.

Surprised you watched spidey-verse but i agree those were both awesome and well animated.
The second one was just incredible that they somehow surpassed the first one

Do you agree they peaked in the 90s/00s?
2010s is severely underrated here. Significant depth and breadth in 10s. Toy Story 3 didn’t even make his top 3, nor did Inside Out
Also Incredibles 2 and Coco
Toy Story 3 is often considered one of the best animated movies ever (despite being a sequel), so hard to say the 2010s were lesser than the 00s or 90s. Everything went down with woke ideology and covid though. We’ll see where things play out going forward

Yep. OP’s list for the 2010s is just really bad

Surprised you watched spidey-verse
Huh? Some have accused me of watching too much animation.
I mean, I probably watch as much if not more than the next guy.
In addition to Spidey-verse...
Arcane
One Piece (well, like 50 eps so far)
Blue Eye Samurai
Nimona
Skull Island
Legend of Vox Machina
Attack on Titan (a couple of seasons)
Undone
Love Death & Robots
Kubu and the 2 Strings
The Monkey King
Utlraman
Gamera: Rebirth (well, I tried at least)
Godzilla: Singular Point, Planet of the Monsters
etc...
And that's not counting all big name stuff, like Minions, Incredibles, Inside Out...

because the only point of his list is to push a narrative that because now that he's older and his life sucks, everything sucks these days. He's trying to compare entire decades vs half a decade as well
If you cut off the 2nd half of each decade his list would look like this so I guess the 80s, 2000s, and 2010s all sucked too
1970s 6.8/10
The Aristocats (1970)
Robin Hood (1973)
1980s 7.9/10
The Fox and the Hound (1981)
1990s 9.9/10
The Lion King (1994)
Toy Story (1995)
2000s 9.7/10
Finding Nemo (2003)
2010s 8.8/10
Frozen (2013)
2020s 7.0/10
Onward (2020)
Luca (2021)
Inside Out 2 (2024)

I was born in January of 1959. Before I was in kindergarten, we had LP records with picture books of Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella and some non-Disney ones. My favorite one was a Tom Sawyer record. We listened to them on rainy days. We would drop the top bunk bedspread down and pretend we were on a covered skiff or river boat.

Onward was way better than it should’ve been. Really like that one.
It's a real shame that COVID hampered the box office for Onward. That movie was top-tier.

Luca is awesome.
It wasn't awful, but it was better than I expected.
quote:
Coco should be on your list though. It is top tier Pixar.
Fully agree.

Are those images of the actual LPs? You still have them?

That list doesn’t even have Coco, which is a top 3 all time Pixar movie
