I just hate how just about everything in the MCU is tied to Tony Stark.
I love iron man and RDJ too but it's beyond ridiculous at this point.
RDJ and the first Iron Man movie is the reason we have the MCU as it is today.
RDJ was making a comeback, and Marvel had underperforming movies.
Then the perfect union happened, you have the literal perfect A-list actor for Tony Stark, making a career comeback, Marvel took a huge gamble on it and it paid dividends. They chose Jon Favreau, RDJ with that script just was gold. This allowed Marvel to expand the MCU way more liberal than they would have
If there is no Iron Man 1, you could easily argue we wouldn't have the hugely successful MCU that we do today.
There is a reason they were giving RDJ truckloads of cash to keep playing Tony.
These last movies (esp FFH, which I loved) were basically a homage to RDJ and a showing of espect from Marvel

Bro if you’re over MCU movies just don’t go see them.

It was fun and I know these need to be fun. You want a good experience at the theater and its a kid in high school so it's not The Dark Knight. BUT, this movie isnt aimed to just teenagers and was there any part of this movie that had any adult aspect to it?
Actually, I think Marvel has handled Spidey really well for adults. He's the funny teen who thinks Star Wars is some weird old movie. It worked with Tony and it works with Happy. Their relationship is entertaining from either perspective.

Was there anything that was suspenseful?
As someone who liked the comics, I'm constantly surprised at what the MCU decides to do. I thought the whole time they were angling towards Mysterio being a cover and him actually being Norman stealing Tony's tech. Peter's love life creates some suspense. Action sequences, by nature, are suspenseful even if you know Spidey will win.
Then the final twist was nice.
Suspenseful doesn't mean Zodiac or Seven....it can simply mean unknown outcomes, and there were plenty.
I mean, being disappointed at FFH for a lack of suspense is the same as being disappointed at something like Die Hard for lack of suspense. Here's a hint: McClane will win. Every time. So will Ethan Hunt, John Wick, Spider-Man, Thor, etc. It's that ONE time they don't win, Infinity War, that makes an impact. But don't worry, they'll win again. If they never won, that wouldn't be suspenseful either.

It was funny, there were multiple parts a cracked up at, not just chuckled. But that kind of goes along with my previous statement. Marvel almost as a whole has turned into comedies.
Agree to disagree. I get the feels. Endgame brought the feels. But again, most comics have to not take themselves too seriously. By nature, they are ludicrous and that's ok.
quote:
This I dont get. I feel like he was easily one of the worst villains they have ever done. He was barely a villain. I know he wanted to kill PP and his friends and didnt care if there were casualties, but, as far as villains go, thats pretty weeak. His pep rally speech showed us his motivation and I was sitting there thinking "well that aint that bad."
He's completely self-centric and egotistical, you do remember he threatened his own "staff" multiple times. He was bad, there is no question.
quote:
I mentioned it in my post earlier but unless im missing something, he was a bad guy, who genuinely wanted to do good things, but went about it in the wrong way." At no point did I think, wow, this guy is evil. I mean he controlled drone attacks, ok. Give me a computer wristband and a headset and I could do the same stuff Mystereo is doing.
That's a bit of an oversimplification.
quote:
But they were fake scenes. The best fight scenes were an illusion.
But that's the point of the character. It's ALWAYS an illusion with Mysterio. You have to just go with that. It's the same as FK being upset about it not being a Nick Fury movie now.
That's the point, and that's JUST as impactful. The drones were still blowing things up, it's the image of what was doing the damage that was the only illusion.

Where did I say that? People disagree on things. The majority of people are hooray super heroes! Im more critical on them and I know that, so I come here to discuss it. This board would suck if everybody agreed about everything.

Not anywhere near as good as Homecoming but still enjoyable. Mysterio was a great villain by Marvel standards.

Saw it tonight and enjoyed it. I didn’t go in with spoilers or any plot points so I was wondering wtf was going on when the last elemental died like an hour in lol.
Mysterio was great. I figured this would happen sometime down the line after they did the fake villain thing with the Mandarin, but this time they just gave the villain a great back story instead of making him a stoner.
Zendaya is definitely not my favorite character, her emo vibe is odd and it makes me cringe at how weird she sounds at times but I guess that’s what they’re going for. It doesn’t take anything away from the movie really since I really only care about Flash and Ned amongst the normal students.
The first fight between Mysterio and Spidey was epic. Reminded me off Strange’s fight in the shadow realm from his first movie, but this was even better.
It was one of the better standalone movies, imo.

I liked MJ a lot in homecoming but they did a pretty bad job with her character in this one.

They're movies, every fight scene is fake

then let me re-word it, it was a fake, fake fight scene.

thought the movie was well done, enjoyed most of it
JB Smoove's character was just a waste of space, time and energy. he added no comedic value to the movie.

Yeah the comedy was really uneven in this one

For a fake, fake fight scene, Peter Parker sure got his arse kicked.
It just feels like you're looking for something to complain about. It was an awesome scene that everyone loved, even those that didn't like the movie as a whole. To try to dismiss it because "it wasn't real" is just dumb.

The actors playing the teachers were vastly underused. Not that you want those roles stealing the spotlight, but they may have been better off with lesser comedians there. I kept wanting Starr and Smoove to break out with some amazing comedic lines or bits.

As I mentioned in one of my first post, I had a few complaints. The villain and how he wasnt even that evil was one of them. The majority of his villainous acts were just an illusion and his motives werent even that terrible, that just falls short for me.
It has an 8/10 imdb rating. I'd give it a 5.5-6. Im not bashing the movie, it just wasnt that great. But if you have any complaint against a Marvel movie its considered dumb to think that so there's barely any point in talking about it. Just like this, if you have a complaint about the illusions, you get your "all movies are fake" cliche reply and that's the upvote.

He was willing to kill Peter, his classmates and Happy with no second thoughts. And he outed a superhero trying to do good things just to get the last laugh. And he pretty much started to hold his staff at gunpoint to do what he needed.
How was he not evil?

The "illusion" had Peter getting his arse kicked and eventually getting hit by a train. How can you discredit that just because the villain didn't physically throw the punches?

Relative to other comic book villains, not that evil at all. Most are wanting to see entire city's and planets destroyed. Im not saying I need that to be every villain, but, im trying to think of another MAIN villain in the MCU universe that was that tame.
