did you not see the color reflected in his glasses when Marion opened her laptop and the Saul ad was playing?
Of course it will be in color. Gene is gone. His cover is blown.
Just for reference - I thought it was a very cool effect:
I read it as a tragic reminder of Gene's former life, however - similar to the flashy clothes and ties. Thus, I would be surprised if everything suddenly became color for his timeline.

I didn't think Odenkirk could carry a show
Now, there have been some interesting takes on the last few episodes but this is something.
Odenkirk has significantly exceeded any reasonable (and almost any unreasonable) expectations that anyone could have had for him in this series. He’s been incredible from episode one.

Did he really carry it? Long periods of time when he was not on screen.
I think he was great but Lalo, Gus, Kim, Chuck and others made the show.
Like Seinfeld except Bob can act.

I guess we could debate what it means to carry a show and if he’s done it.
But my point is that his performance has been remarkable. The depth of the character he has portrayed and the range of emotion even in the “slow parts” of the early years are not easy to do. A lot of actors would have failed in this role.

Good point.
I guess just saying he was great isn’t enough for the downvoters.

What was going on in that scene from episode 1? I don't remember that

I think he was watching an old tape of his commercials or something like that.

Carol Burnett’s character is Kim’s mom. As a former con artist, that’s how she picked up on what Gene was up to.

Ham, is that you? Don’t you think that’s too trite for these writers?
It was her all along!
These are not Big Reveal kind of writers. They give characters what they deserve. We did not see Kim’s mom for the purpose of a “Big Reveal in the finale” trope.
These writers also do not create heroes. They show us tragedy. Saul is likely headed to prison. I’m expecting Kim to get closure. She held back when signing divorce papers. She may get the last word.

That’s my hope. Screw Saul/Jimmy/Gene after that.

He was being an arse but it obviously came from a place of deep pain. Tough way for their relationship to end. I’m certain there be some type of different closure in the finale.
But then again, I was pretty sure he hadn’t talked to Kim on the phone when he reacted that way.

It’s all good man = Saul Goodman
It’s all gone = Saul Gone
Doesn’t sound too optimistic for our hero.

Kim had one of those at one of her PD cases. Thought there might be a connection with that.
Rhea did an interview recently where that was brought up and she said she wasn't even aware that they were the same one. So it's probably just an easter egg without any plot significance.

His first advice to Walt & Jesse is to kill Badger
“Why don’t you just kill badger? I mean follow me guys a mosquito is bothering you, you don’t go kill the mosquito’s attorney”
Not to mention he advised Walt6 to send Hank to Belize, and to give Jessie the Old Yeller treatment.
Killing someone is not a line Saul wouldn't cross, but Jimmy probably wouldn't.
He was close to killing Marion, but I think her saying "I trusted you." brought Jimmy back a little bit.
