So Lalo (and Gus) are convinced that the creation of an underground lab is a capital offense but yet Gus (I don't remember when) eventually convinces Don Eladio that it is a good idea or at least the manufacture north of the border is a good idea. Does this make sense?

funny, i thought the same thing. the show is too good for a trope like that.
Same here. That’s some lame/lazy writing. Hopefully not a foreshadowing of the lamest ending possible - that Kim was in Jimmy’s life all along. It would be a terrible and lame ending for such an otherwise well constructed series.

It seems like in the current time period, that can be seen as competition and going rogue. Gus is attempting to undercut salamanca business by doing his own thing whihc is a big no no. But once walt enters the scene and gus's operation explodes, he can show eladio how well their whole operation (which has eladio at the top) is doing so at that point it's all good.
That's the way I'd look at it I guess

quick tangent then we can get back to the episode but I was just thinking about this. For a bit part character like Lyle, how much does he make? He's an extra so he may have been paid a little bit for his role, but with a popular show like this how would that work for future payments? I know a guy that was an extra in a very popular movie and he had 1 speaking line. HE had to register with the SAG because he had a line, and he received royalty checks YEARS after the fact. They were usually like $8 but still, he was getting paid. So for someone like Lyle, does taht work the same way? And what kinda money do we think he'd pull from his part in this show?

That's how i understand it but pretty big change from torturing Gus to death by the pool by removing his skin inch by inch to yeah, that's ok for you to produce in USA. I guess an important point is that Eladio wanted Walt and Jessie for himself in mexico once he found out about the super lab. I don't remember how Eladio finds out about manufacture north of the border.

He'll get royalties. Probably about $100 a month based on screen time.

He sleeps peacefully at night knowing he is the best damn fast food employee in the country.

Apparently the actor playing Lyle is the son of Dave Thomas of "Bob and Doug McKenzie" fame.

The pilot who did all the helicopter flying in that movie with Meg Ryan, Courage Under Fire, was my pilot a few years later. IIRC he said he got a check for ~$800 every time it aired.
Of course he was known to be full of shite at times too..

Screen Actor's Guild minimum at least:
SAG Day Rate: $1,056 / Day
SAG Weekly Scale: $3,664 / Week

Probably not much, if any more.

Or the guy who was so pissed about his baseball cards.
That dude was hilarious. Or more so Mike and Nacho's interactions with him.

He’s not an extra. He’s had way too much screen time and lines to be considered that. He’s definitely a member of SAG. He’ll get royalties. How much, I have zero idea.

There is zero reason to vacuum her at this point.
Kim doesn’t know that. And she doesn’t need Mike to be vacuumed. Saul’s still got to get the book from the vet. And there was a reason they held on that close-up shot of her holding the card. I don’t think it was just a red herring. Now, it might not have meant she gets technically vacuumed—though I’d lean towards she does, either at Saul’s insistence to protect her or hers to protect him—it could have just been foreshadowing her leaving suddenly in whatever way. But with that shot and Jimmy’s telling Francesca to answer that exact phone at that exact time, I think the vacuum makes the most sense.
And Mike couldn’t get her vacuumed anyway, because he doesn’t know about it in Breaking Bad or he would have used it for himself and/or his granddaughter and daughter-in-law.
But I’m not even sure Kim leaves strictly for protection. I watched episode 7 and 8 again last night, and there is zero chance the thought of Howard committing suicide ever crossed their minds like a poster above mentioned. Zero. They were genuinely surprised when he told them he was separated from his wife and had been living in the guest house for almost a year. They looked at each other when he said that like they may not have really thought the whole thing through as much as they’d thought. “Hurting the reputation of ONE lawyer” was what they had been telling themselves to justify doing it to get the money.
And once the jig was up and they couldn’t keep the lie up anymore, they told Howard twice that he’d bounce back and land on his feet (about a minute before he took a bullet to the brain and landed on his back) and seemed genuinely— not quite sorry, but something they hadn’t anticipated. That clearly fricked them up, and it wasn’t just that they were scared they were next, Howard being murdered because of the plan they set in motion was part of it, though they couldn’t fully comprehend it at that time.
It did start to set in in Episode 8 after Kim got back and Mike was telling them the Howard coverup story they were going with. He says his car will be found on a beach somewhere with a bag of cocaine in it so everybody will think he was an addict—“that was the story you were laying out, wasn’t it?”
You could tell that destroyed Kim. She couldn’t speak, just kept her head down, realizing that not only had their plan caused his murder, but that his body would never be found, and he would always be remembered as the coke addict lawyer who swam out to sea to kill himself. All because of her. Jimmy turned and looked at her 3 times, but she never looked anywhere but straight down. She’s mentally fricked, and is going to have a helluva time dealing with that, and, like she’s been known to previously deal with shite she can’t handle, is gonna wanna run away from it. And I think she will.

Oh yeah she's wrecked. Her and Jimmy are very different. Chuck's letter he left for example. Jimmy was reading it eating cereal and snickering. He's basically over it. Then looks over and she's crying pretty hard.

That's what I was getting at about their body language when Mike was talking to them. She was out of it while Saul was shaken but coherent. He's been in rough spots before and put it behind while moving forward. Kim hasn't.
