Totally unrelated to Allen's politics I am sure.

quote:

Pixar said Thursday during its Disney Investor Day that Lightyear, an origin story about Toy Story‘s Buzz Lightyear, is in the works with Chris Evans voicing the lead.

Lightyear will follow how the test pilot became the space hero that spawned the Buzz Lightyear action figure made famous in Pixar’s Toy Story movies. Angus MacLane, the co-director of Finding Dory, will be taking the reins on Lightyear.

Also, Bao filmmaker Domee Shi has Turning Red, about a little girl named Mae, in development. Shi and Becky Neiman’s Bao won the Oscar for best short film in 2019.

That’s just fricked up if they kept Tim Allen out due to politics. Tom Hanks should step up for him if this is the case and Allen didn’t refuse the role.

Tim Allen doesn't have the voice of a young man like would be needed for this preequel. He's also got a new season of Last Man Standing about to come out so there may have been a scheduling conflict. Go ahead and assume everything is political though, even when there's no evidence of it.

It was probably a mutual separation. Evans has the right voice and he’s “in the family” and Tim Allen probably doesn’t want to commit to it outside of the mainline Toy Story franchise.

Speaking of Toy Story, I want more Forky damnit. The Asks a Question shorts were nice, but they were like a small bite of an appetizer for the full course meal I wanted. I want 10 15-20 minute episodes of Forky exploring different environments/situations. Bonnie takes him to a birthday a Pizza Planet, Forky at Halloween, Forky at a Fourth of July celebration, Forky goes to a doctor/dentist appointment with Bonnie, stuff like that.

Call me up Pixar, I’ll write it myself.

As if anyone would care since it's animated.

He just completed filming the final season and the Buzz Lightyear prequel doesn't come out for another year and a half.

I don't need to assume anything. The news is currently trending worldwide on Twitter and people are currently celebrating him not being Buzz Lightyear anymore precisely because of his politics.

Yep no evidence of political bias in Hollywood.

None.

Did Disney say they fired because of his political beliefs? Were his politics a mystery while he was making the movies? What about all the other Disney movies he's made, most of which have made a ton of money? Were his politics a problem for those?

Over 90% of tweets are sent out by less than 10% of users. Over half of all Twitter accounts are bots, fakes, or accounts that have one or less tweet. So yeah those mouthy 20 or so people don’t represent the bulk of Twitter or hell even social media for that matter and they damn sure don’t have the pulse of the nation. It’s an overhyped echo chamber that the media uses to validated their own opinions.

He sounded fine in Toy Story 4. If he rejected the script, that’s fine, but if they went to Chris Evans first, then he should be defended. Tom Hanks has to come out if Tim Allen is just finding out about this.

Why? Because you are personally offended about something you made up in your mind like a Social Justice Warrior?

Why else wouldn’t they give Allen the role? It’s not like it’s live action.

If you can't see how conservatives, who weren't super popular in Hollywood over the past 30 years or so are practically radioactive in this new, improved #Woke culture, I just don't know what to tell you.

Seriously.

Save for him rejecting the role, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be given the role besides politics or some crime he committed. Think they went to Patton Oswalt on the Secret Life of Pets 2 before Louis CK refused to reprise his role?

How many straight to video sequels/prequels/spinoffs use the original actors? Disney has a bunch of them and they always recast.

His political leanings were well known prior to filming TS4.
