Do you think we’re remotely living in the same world as we were in 2016? That’s when they started recording their lines for Toy Story 4.

It’s a freaking toy. You think their voices change as they “age”?

Its about the real person that the toy was based on. That means it makes even more sense to recast.

Actors getting "blackballed" for their politics has been going on for quite some time.

Make America Great Again hit like it did because his following was tired of what they felt was liberal oppression. This isn't new.

Unless he said something outlandish recently, I don't see this being the reason. But you guys always have to feel oppressed, so have at it.

I don’t recall your righteous indignation when the other voice actors took over the role.

“Back when we created the very first Toy Story, we designed Buzz Lightyear with the idea that he was a toy based on some really cool character from an epic blockbuster film. Well, all these years later we decided it’s time to make that film,” Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter explained at Disney’s Investor Day.

So it's not even about the toy Buzz Lightyear and Buzz has been voiced by at least 3 other people.

But muh politics!

Disagree. There was a noticeable difference.

Toy story is a big deal. I seriously doubt he turned down one of his most notable roles due to "scheduling conflicts".

I’m moderate, but if you don’t think Hollywood has greatly accelerated destroying everyone who doesn’t completely fall in line, then you haven’t been paying attention. They’re trying to destroy Chris Pratt at this point for God’s sake. If someone like Pratt who was mid-level famous made his religious speeches at this point, they’d be blackballed out of the industry.

It looks like the movie is based on the person the toy is based on, which can explain the voice acting change.

Disney still has other actors who aren’t all SJW, so I’m not sold that’s the reason they changed voice actors.

ETA: this really seems like a good opportunity to have made this a live action movie

The Buzz Lightyear we saw in Toy Story was based off an in universe movie character like Woody was based off the character from his own show.

They are making the in universe movie that the Buzz Lightyear action figure is based off. So there’s no Andy, Woody, Bonnie, etc. just whatever exists in that movie within a universe.

That's the only think people would care about. The voice is the only thing we have of the performer.

I know people play younger all the time. Not this young. The idea of a 70 year old Allen, who sounds like a 70 year old, voicing a young man is laughable.

don't need to assume anything. The news is currently trending worldwide on Twitter and people are currently celebrating him not being Buzz Lightyear anymore precisely because of his politics.

I know I'm a broken record: Twitter is not reality. There's no direct correlation between people celebrating a thing and that thing being the cause of something. You, and others, are just playing shitspreader.

Hopefully the Supreme Court or the Electoral College can step in and correct this attack and keep Tim the Tool Man in office, in spite of what Chris Evans and his Chinese puppeteers want to force on us.

I know, right?

You don't know what to tell me because you can't tell me using examples that are real, with logic that isn't made up, and with anything other than Twitter bullshite as your evidence.

You don't know what to tell us because you think everyone should follow the same idiotic social media wormholes you do, but we don't, so you can't.

Sometimes people are old. Sometimes people are old, and the role in question would not make any fricking sense played by an old man who sounds like an old man.

Side note to a more recent post

Disney is not "destroying" Chris Pratt. If we want to follow the circumstantial evidence rabbit hole of dumbshit investigating, there's more evidence that Disney is asking its other stars to defend Pratt than there is evidence that they want Pratt gone. Don't be tools.

Not sure if you just worded this wrong or what, but LCK got replaced deliberately by that soyboy by the studio.

You’re equating Tim Allen’s conservatism to Louis CK’s masturbating in front of random women? I don’t think that Louis was banking on a kids movie career after he was exposed as a serial public jerker.

I think it is important to remember Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story is a Toy.

Buzz Lightyear in this project is not. He does not appear to 100% copy the look of the toy either. Its okay if he doesn’t sound 100% like him.

Also, there was already a Buzz Lightyear and Star Command show a while back. Allen didn’t voice Buzz in it. It was Patrick Warburton.

I’m saying they don’t see the difference, and really many of the women (including Sarah Silverman) just thought it was funny when he did it to them. I think that’s wrong, but who am I to say it is to people who just think it’s weird and hilarious?
