me and my daughter are watching college football with my 91 year old grandmother rn and catching up on life. Your family abandoned you years ago so you resort to raging about liberals on the internet 24/7.

What? 6.4M watched and then the next day 70% decided not to watch again. How is that not losing them?

Technically NFL viewership plummets going from the Super Bowl to the preseason games. But it’s expected for obvious reasons. Absolutely no one thought that Kimmel would maintain his national spotlight return audience. Phrasing the change in ratings as a failure is ridiculous.

He’s been losing money for ABC for years. Really, ABC should have fired him long ago and just openly stated that he was being fired for low ratings.

But I really don’t think they can fire him now. They made a very foolish decision by claiming they were suspending him due to pressure from the White House. Now, people won’t believe them if they say they’re firing Kimmel due to his ratings, and people would start cancelling ABC subscriptions all over again.

It's common parlance in the industry. Everyone understands it was a honeymoon-esque rise and it was far more likely to drop back down and eventually get around his previous numbers. No one wants to parse it to that extent in a simple tweet.

Never seen someone so obsessed like he is with Trump . The dude literally brings him up nightly in the opening of his show. When he is off the air no one will remember him other then being a liberal loon.

If they are really trying to trim the fat then they will just not renew his contract next year and say they are exiting the late night market.

That drop off is after the affiliates that had boycotted him came back!

Because that 6.4M would be the outlier. If they were using any sort of statistical measurement, they would most likely give it some sort of weighted variable due to the statistical anomaly.

I don't like him at all, but what the story should be is before "he was suspended" he had an average audience of 1.7M, and now it appears to be up to 2.4M. Does that 2.4M average include the 6.4M, which would artificially inflate that figure. If not, can he hold on to the extra bump which would justify his return.

Friday's show was a rerun of Tuesday's show. The entire audience that tuned in on Tuesday most probably tuned out on Friday. Kimmel's ratings usually build through the week up till Thursday. Next week you'll have a better idea, though he's broadcasting from Brooklyn and has some big names next week, including him and Colbert simultaneously appearing on each other's shows.

I can't stand Kimmel, never have. But this is just dumb

It's down 70% from one episode, not his average. The "down" number you're posting is literally double what his average was. That's not a bad thing

Jimmy really thought intentionally lying about an assassination was gonna be his Hugh Grant fricking a prostitute moment. He’ll be done when his contract runs out.

Shocking!

Those intial bump in ratings were just people tuning in to see if he would double down. Show is still shite, hence the mass exodus once again.
