This is the most orgasmic movie I can remember seeing. The way the movie is composed is exactly how I like my movie to be composed. I am surprised I wasn’t drooling.

The visuals and sound are just unparalleled. I’ll leave it at that.

I do think there were a couple of issues. I am pretty damn familiar with the story and I do think the story was clumsy in parts. I honestly don’t think it matters too much for this movie, but it was very noticeable. And then there are times when when we have characters just narrating what’s on screen which also feels a little weird. Like at times it’s overly expository and at times there’s very little.

Also, for all them talking how dangerous arakis as an environment is, I didn’t ever overwhelmingly feel it.

I also don’t think we ever got as much sense as how absolutely everyone but Paul knew they were fricked when they got sent to Arakis.

I will never ever hide my love for the 2000s miniseries but Timothee really is pretty outstanding in this as is everyone else. I wish we got more time with some of these characters because I just liked them and wanted to see more of them.

The biggest fricking detriment to the movie is all the ducking visions and dreams. I appreciate how important they are in some regards for what the story turns into. And I think Zendaya is just an amazingly beautiful woman. But I don’t need 2 minute dream sequences of just her walking in a desert every 15 minutes. I would say that’s the only thing in the movie I don’t think was fine appropriately.

Overall though, amazing movie.

Also great soundtrack

Loved it. Saw it at the imax.

A few thoughts:
It's just massive. Every building and vessel tells you nothing is man made anymore. I like that feeling.

Harkonen storyline could have used some more fleshing out. They weren't intimidating enough. Those were some bad dudes.

Score was amazing in parts, but enough of the auto toned female viking singing. Felt like too much.

Cast was great except for Stilgar. Thick Javier just didn't fit to me. Also that final scene felt extremely rushed.

8/10 for me and that's rare. I feel like there will be a directors cut we will all like a lot better. We just needed to see MORE. Chalmette works well, but needs to hit the testosterone. Zendaya must have made a deal with Harvey Weinstein or something because I just dont get her at all. Cute boney girls don't do it for me. She would absolutely go in that thread earlier today about actresses that are forced on us

He’s supposed to be 15 in the books and I think he definitely looks the part. He for reasons is supposed to be slight. Maybe the good show him come more into his own going forward.

I think her accent was off and that distracted me but otherwise I though she’s fine. And I don’t see how you can not see her as hot as frick. But to each his own.

Thought it was slighly weak. I thought Baustista was supposed to be someone different at first and I was definitely going to raise that up but then I realized he was playing someone else and it eased my mind.

I thought it actually fit. He’s not supposed to be charismatic. He’s the leader because he’s the strongest. Sometimes the strongest isn’t charismatic. He strikes me as a world wary man who is just trying to get buy in the simplest way possible.

Also that final scene felt extremely rushed.

I kept wondering where this movie would end and that had me highly annoyed all movie. Honestly that’s a huge detriment because I kept wondering “will this be the last scene?” Maybe a personal issue but whatever.

Also, does the emperors daughter do her visit in the book or was that just the mini-series? Felt that scene could have helped in some world building

Just got home from seeing it. Way better than I even hoped for.

Villeneuve simply nailed it. From the cast, to the score, to the “feel”.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing this. Busy now (not really Ole Miss vs the Tigers wining and dining your fine fans including posters here) but basically renting a theater with 15 of my friends next Wednesday at the Alamo Drafthouse two blocks from my house to see this. Man I can’t wait to see this movie. My most anticipated movie since Interstellar, and I’m going to enjoy it right.

How old would kids need to be to dig it? Generally speaking. I’ve not read the books and while the movie has always been in my consciousness as a piece of the 80s zeitgeist of my childhood, I’m not sure I’ve seen it in probably 30 years. Not sure that matters much as it seems completely different than the very 80s Lynchian period.

I think a 10 year old would love it. They may not understand everything. Tell them to read the book then to learn more.

I thought the first half of the movie was better. I enjoyed the political aspect of the movie.

The daydreams were a bit excessive, and I wish we got more from the villain.

I'd give it an 8/10.

I watched it on HBO Max yesterday and much like the first movie because I haven't read the books I was kind of lost but no doubt this version was much more polished and the cinematography was far superior to the original movie. Even though I didn't completely grasp the storyline I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

The only semi-knock I have is the ending seemed kind of anti- climatic though I'm guessing it's supposed to continue eventually?

C'mon man, no BR2049. If it approaches that, I'll be good.

The story is very meh. There really isn't much there at all. But, the visual and sound effects are off the charts. I don't know how anyone could get bored with the movie.

I was apprehensive on a Blade Runner sequel especially since I thought they’d have to answer the cliffhanger which I thought would ruin the movie. While I was right about the later, Denis was brilliant in that he did not answer the cliffhanger and merely expanded on it. Pure brilliance and showed he truly understood Blade Runner.

My biggest complaint was Rebecca Ferguson as Jennifer. I could not understand a word she was saying in her whispers and had to put on subtitles.

This.

And I just don't think any movie can do this book justice. This is the floweriest one yet, but I just don't think the film medium can get it.
