Madison trying to get Kevin to realize it’s over and Kevin trying to save it and keep it all together . Damn that was so good .

This moment and when Rebecca asked Kevin to build her the house by the cabin that their dad was going to build for her

Great episode. Returned to what made this a great show. No social justice BS

So where did Toby go? And Madison is still around and looks like her and Kevin are close

Madison needed to be the one to realize that she can do better for herself. Not that Kevin is a bad guy, but Kevin would've been marrying the family, not Madison, and that's not how you do it. He would've gone down with the ship as it were, and done the right thing by the kids but eventually would've come to resent Madison and the circumstances under which they got together in the first place.

A couple of ideas about Toby:

Clearly he and Kate get divorced. Did they grow apart while he was working in SF? Does Kate cheat on him with Phillip while Toby's away?

Toby's there in the flash forward at Kevin's cabin when Rebecca is presumably on her deathbed. (End of last season). We don't see Kate, however. We also don't know what year that is supposed to be, but Kevin's in full-on silver fox mode, and Deja is fully-grown, a doctor, and expecting.

Kate's wedding to Phillip flash forward is a 5 year jump. Kevin says "I'm a 45 year-old man..." when he's asking for permission for movie quotes. This season began with their 40th birthdays, and the giant rift between Kevin & Randall.

Nicky's already married at the time of Kate's & David's wedding. "The wife wanted stockings...". He still is married at the time of the final cabin flash forward. (At least we see him still wearing a wedding ring. Still guessing that he stays in CA and finds Sally, who's still an eternal hippy-chick, up in SF on her brother's farm.

I also still believe that Kevin and Sophie end up together, ultimately, and that she's the one pulling up to the cabin in the white SUV. Kevin's been through too much of an emotional journey through the course of the show not to get his shite together ultimately, and make a play for Sophie that will demonstrate to her that he's serious and can really commit.

ETA - Apparently I thought Phillip's name was David, for some reason. Corrected.

I do wonder if the show has a curveball in store for us. We don't see Kate in the 10 year flash. Maybe she is dead and in this 5 year flash she and toby are renewing or getting remarried because she has some sort fo terminal illness. I know it is a long shot but maybe in this 5 year flash Kevin is also marrying Sophie. And MAYBE....Phillip is Madison's half brother or something. We see Madison's mom and she's British. Phillip is also British. So since Kevin is marrying Phillip's sister they will be brother in laws.

I know is is kind of out there but the show always has some crazy plot twists.

Nicky is going to marry Sally. Sally will be the mother of Madison's ped so they will run into each other. When Nicky searches up Sally's name, it shows that she's a doctor, specifically a pediatrician, which may lead to her son also becoming one.

This is a good catch

Kinda messed up to just walk out on your daughter like that without even trying to get custody

I don’t think works unless Kevin eventually marries Madison.

I hate how this show keeps fricking with Toby. He’s a saint.

Interview w creator about end of season and storylines for season 6.

I think the most interesting thing next season will be what they do with Kevin. By this finale there’s a lot of possibilities
A) him and Madison really fall in love and get married
B) Zoe or Sophie show back up and he ends with them
C) someone completely new comes along
D) he’s a single man with his fam living with him and he’s finally happy internally

Something Mrs. Vox caught upon second watching of that final scene, last night is that Kevin's with *someone* at the time of that second wedding of Kate's. There's makeup on the counter in the bathroom where he's practicing his toast; there's an obviously-floral dress hanging up in the closet when he goes to get his jacket, etc.

Madison said something to the effect of "I told you a dozen times this morning," about the no movie quotes, leading some folks online to speculate that she and Kevin are back together. That's the most obvious explanation, and given Fogleman's track record for plot twists, the least likely, IMO.

I think Kevin and Madison have found a way to co-parent the twins, and he's with Sophie.

Future Timelines

With many loose ends to tie up, Fogelman assured viewers that there will be answers to all their questions by the end of the final season, given all the different timelines. "This show has always been challenging, and where it takes place in time, and we always knew that season 6 would be ambitious in terms of the way it jumps time, and even more ambitious than other seasons. Because our audience has been so devoted, and I think because we hopefully smartly set up these contained areas where these future timelines live, I think you're going to have a real sense of resolution and completion from this family," Fogelman said. "We have been working tirelessly to set up this rewarding final season to make all the pieces fit together. We know what we owe, we know what our plan is. And that's been a part of the great benefit from the very beginning, especially the show allowing us to know our endgame and allowed us to build for what we hope will be a very rewarding final season."

Fogelman added, "All of those timelines will be brought to completion and explained. There will be no looming question when we get to the end of next season. Everything will be resolved and you can't always claim that 100 percent of your audience is going to like every single decision you make for the characters, but I don't think anything will be left on the table. So all those locations you've been to, all those future timelines we've been to, they will all get resolutions."

Maybe I am old fashioned but I hate how that ended. Let's be real, love grows and changes over time. No one truly knows the person they are marrying nor do they usually understand the feelings swirling around inside. My wife and I often talk about how clueless we were when we got married and how we have grown together over time. To me, Kevin and Madison demonstrated plenty enough foundation to build on. She's the mother of his twins and a great girl, if they are both healthy people they can build something special. All the romantic and subjective "Am I in love with you?" crap is useless and more movie trope than reality. I was team Sophie for a while, but I do hope they work it out in the end.

I get where Madison's coming from, however. Kevin is in love with his family, and would do anything for them, but let's be honest - if Madison hadn't gotten pregnant, there's zero chance they would have anything together, save an awkward evening next time they were in the same room at Kate's house.

Yeah, but Kevin has had the greatest character arc on the show by far. It's been a journey from selfishness to wanting a family. I live with the conviction that love is primarily an action taken and the feelings are what follow. Those twins anchored Kevin in place to give love the opportunity to grow. That's how I would have written it but I know that is kind of the old fashioned view of duty before romance.

Sure but I think what they’ll explore is Kevin went from selfish to wanting a family, but he did it for the same reasons he formerly drank alcohol, and that he needs to be right with himself and his issues to truly open up and love someone and not just settle for the mom of his kids.

For Madison, with the flashbacks we saw that she grew up thinking she never deserved love and she finally realized that she doesn’t have to just accept good enough, and that she deserves someone who truly loves her too.

At first I was mad at the thought they were getting married, because no way that would happen. They have just been oblivious to her size lately.
But then I realized there is some kind of twist happening. Green card for him? I don’t know, but I don’t buy him being with her.

I'm so glad this season is over. The finale was better than most of the shows this season and not even all of it was that good.

I think Kate and Toby renew their vows. I'm just not seeing her with Phillip or whatever his name is.

I really don't know who Kevin is going to end up with.

What was the issue with the dress and putting some black top over it? I missed that somehow.

EDIT: Well, never mind. I read that Kate definitely marries Phillip and she does not cheat on Toby. She and Toby co-parent, so I assume they are still friends.

Looking back, Toby didn't take his child disabilities too well. He really didn't want to adopt. They have definitely had some issues.

The gender fluid she/her/they pronoun girl had to make a big deal out of it and couldn’t just wear the dress for an hour.

That was annoying as frick. I didn’t care for that part, although Beth and her did reconcile and have a good moment .

So Shamoo found another chubby chaser! The dude playing Toby probably couldn’t take working with her anymore.

Her in that yellow dress in the bedroom was just too much. It was actually distracting. The proportions of her body made just see this...

Well, the remake was just plain ugly and I didn't see how it affected her gender any differently.
