You're not supposed to. They're brand new. I assume you got to the end of the episode when their connections are all revealed?

I’m coming into this season pretty disinterested. If I didn’t watch it with alajones2, I wouldn’t be watching.

However, last nights episode was pretty cool.

I can only watch a couple times a season because it's so depressing. The singer with the newlywed pregnant wife is Kate's son.

Trashy, manipulative show. Good god. I’ve caught bits and pieces of it and damn near everyone needs a psych consult and ambian.

I was bored until the end. I’ve loved this show, but the premier didn’t do much for me.

So Kevin is going to get with the ex Marine lush.

Daija is going to get pregnant by the boy with the baby.

And Toby is no longer wearing a fat suit.

Maybe it’ll real me back in. Season one was good. Season three made me dislike the kids and Randall’s wife. Swing and a miss on season 3.

The first two seasons, particularly leading up to the reveal on the specifics of Jack's death are almost insurmountable when it comes to quality storytelling. Season 3 was an inevitable letdown after that 2 year buildup.

It's important to remember that it's not This Is the Pearsons, or This Is Kate's Weight Loss Journey. We're all a complicated network of interpersonal relationships. Folks come and go in our lives who have the potential to impact us on a profound level. IMO, that's the overarching point of these new characters. They might not be around forever, but they have the potential to define our lives.

A full season of morbidly obese Kate talking about the new baby sounds miserable. That may be the straw for me to stop watching

I told my wife "That woman has one big fat cinnamon roll foot firmly planted in the grave".

I can't fathom what it's like to be that big.

I'm still 100% Team Randall and Team Jack and Becca.

The rest of them, meh.

I would like to like Kevin, but he just keeps letting me down.

I'm still thinking about the episode. I thought about watching it a second time, but I was so bored the first time that I don't think I could sit through it again unlike the first seasons. I watched many episodes twice and enjoyed it.

The mechanic's kid is Daja's baby daddy and he has custody. So where is Daja (I bet dead) and the Pearsons (obviously do not adopt her). Out of a 50 minute episode I spent 45 minutes wondering who are these people and where are the characters I know? I did figure out quickly that they blind guy was Kate and Toby's kid.

Daja was in the episode. She met the young boy with the kid at the cookout. His daughter is not her daughter.

Nah, Daja and the kid are the same age group. This is her coming out of her shell. They don't mix timelines like that.

Plus, you clearly see Deja come home to Randall & Beth's, so she's still with the Pearsons.

I enjoyed the episode, I'm kind of glad they brought in new characters otherwise I don't know how they could have continued with the same cast and their stories without them becoming stale.
