They certainly tried to foreshadow it at the beginning of the episode

I thought the same thing because Randall and Tess were discussing going to see someone and Tess isn't ready. No Beth in sight.

That would be such a "jump the shark" kind of moment, though.

This.

I hope it’s a twist where the show takes your mind left and zags right. If they kill Beth, I’m probably out. I loved NYPD Blue more than this show, and when they had Theo (Sipowicz son) being tested for leukemia. I was planning my exit.

A character or group can only suffer so much. At least until I no longer have interest in watching weekly.

I liked the finale and I actually really liked Toby's parents talking to him about how they see Kate as unstable. I mean have we seen her as as adult go through a whole episode without lashing out at people in some way?

Yeah, and in the flash forward scenes, Toby is toast. He's curled up in a ball, leaving you thinking did Kate do this to him? Was he there when Deja kills Beth? Feels like he had something to do with it all?

Or, is this thread just doing a better job of writing than the actual writers now - again?

Underwhelmed with this as a season finale. Probably not a popular post, but just my feelings. The initial SE 1, Ep 1 was outstanding, some of the best in all of regular TV history, that good, but it's gone steadily downhill since then.

Does remind me now of Nashville, as someone said. I've also seen better writing in this thread about ideas than what has been tossed at us of late.

Who even knows if Deja kills Beth? That's a great idea. Maybe Toby thinks he could have stopped it. Who knows?

Just seems like every time we get our hopes up, we are underwhelmed in comparison to what they did initially in this series. I understand you can't always keep that kind of pace up, but to me, the show has started to really fall apart.

That said, sure I'll be back. Like the show a lot, just starting to wonder about the whole thing now. It's like they think they are better than they are, the entire show, the writers, director, actors, ect., especially the writers, to just leave it like this as a season finale.

Season 2 was definitely a step back from season 1. Season 2 lacked William’s presence. I will allow this Kev/Zoe adventure. Would also drunk rage smash Madison.

agreed but I did enjoy exploring other characters/time frames and what not.

Interested to see future Randall/Tess, Jack's Vietnam experience, Miguel/Rebecca meeting, etc.

The characters are so fleshed out that they can go in a million different directions and it'll still be good

This.

The directions they’ve chosen have been bad. Deja storyline? We are invested in the “Us” characters. Too soon to bring in new ones, much less troubled car smashing and possibly Beth-Murdering characters.

Miguel and Rebecca can be a great tangent.

Jack and Vietnam.

Jack and Rebecca dating.

Jack is dead and all of those cards have been shown (I think). So there doesn’t have to be doom and gloom with everything anymore. They can still pull at the feels because due to Jacks death, everything the characters experience can be bittersweet and have a flashback parallel story.

Deja is like fricking Scrappy Doo all over again. I fricking HATE scrappy doo.

It was interesting that Kate disposed of her father's ashes finally and she didn't talk to anyone about doing it. I don't know if that will matter. I suppose it was a sign of starting her new life with Toby who should become the most important person in her life. Also interesting that she stuck Jack's screwdriver in her bouquet.

I was thinking Randall and Tess might be going to see Deja somewhere like jail. I have no idea, though, truly.

I'm tired of the Deja story. The bat business was a surprise because articles indicated we'd know the end of the Deja deal in the finale and they actually started a new story about her in a way. What was the point of her using the bat on the car? It wasn't getting her anywhere. They didn't make her mother leave.

I'm not left dying for the next season to start. I'll watch, of course, but I found myself sort of happy to have a break from the show. This season was nothing like the first as far as the level of engagement toward the back end of the season.

I doubt it. He was a year in the future and Randall and Tess were a decade so I doubt there is a connection there.

Ok, what did i miss? Why does everything think Deja kills Beth?

Finale was ok. I really think the Jack storyline has been played to it fullest and its time to let everyone grow as standalones.

Kate is a mess but we already knew that. Im just tired of every scene with every character always going back to their dad and him being dead. Is that normal?

I know Milo isnt going anywhere so i expect him to be around

Randal is going to be all understanding about Deja smashing his car. Would be great if he just lost it like a normal person

They’ll never go a “deja kills Beth” route...

It wouldn’t be SJW friendly or encouraging of the adoption of minority child with problems.
