That cabin looked exactly like the cabin they kids went to visit as adults in an earlier episode where they had flashbacks...I assume Jack and Rebecca eventually buy it (since the cabin still had stuff of there's it in, they had to buy it).

I am annoyed as everyone who thinks they have strung out the Jack death reveal for all it's worth...But I enjoy the show and I really don't know what they can do after the death to keep us as interested in the show.

I agree. I like the show a lot and will continue to watch, but there isn't much left too the story after they reveal his death. They'd likely need to introduce new characters, but anyone added now just wouldn't really make sense.

It may be that the manner of Jack's death creates more stories. Hard to tell at this point.
I'm still interested in how they all dealt with it and how long it was before Rebecca and Miguel fell in love in addition to how that developed.
I think it's possible to keep the show going for a while after the manner of death is revealed, but I don't know for how long unless they create some really juicy storylines in the present.

They already showed how it happened. Like 10 years after jacks death Miguel friend requested her on Facebook. And the rest is history.

I keep forgetting about that, but we don't know what happened after that as far as them dating and how the kids felt about it etc....

I always think I'm gonna make it through the episode, and then out of nowhere a scene happens that kicks me in the stomach.

Forgot the batteries for the fire alarm

Boy they are teasing the hell out of this house fire that's potentially incoming with that last shot of the episode

I still don't think he dies in a house fire. I mean obviously the house burned down, but I don't think it was the cause of his death.

Why is Randall so obsessed with a man who left him at a fire station?
Posted on 1/17/18 at 6:52 am to HoustonChick86
I agree that it may not be that house fire that kills him.
We know that Kate feels responsible for the death, so something has to happen with her....
Just can’t figure it out

im just glad that Kate had an original story line this episode. She talked and bitched about her weight the whole episode. What a nice change of pace

I don't know. I think his death is related to the fire and that he probably dies of smoke inhalation saving everyone else or the dog or something like that. Don't know if he burns.
He bought that suit for Kevin. If it survived the fire, then Kevin wears it to the funeral, I assume. Jack said he hates suits. I feel like that's going to be significant in some way in the future. Maybe they don't bury him in a suit because of that?
Randall asked the red headed girl out. Isn't she the one who was in the scene shown previously after Jack's death when Kate says she has to tell Kevin?
I'm not sure I'm thrilled about the venture Randall wants he and Beth to take on. I feel it's going to cause a lot of disagreements between the two of them in having different ideas and with the financial cost.
Miguel is now (ETA corrected from "not") becoming the likable character. They are confirming he had no love interest in Rebecca before Jack died or even immediately thereafter, but that's he's there to stay and protect her in whatever way he needs to do so. I think we're eventually going to see the kids' reactions when they finally start that relationship after Jack's death at some point and that will be interesting.
I still can't figure out why Kate feels guilty about Jack's date, unless it's related to saving her or the dog, but that seems to obvious. Maybe it has to do with her finding a dress that actually fit, but then trying on the size too small and acting like a brat after that causing her Mom to forget the batteries?

Not sure I buy your argument that Miguel is not likable. I think he was just being respectful of his best friend when Jack was alive. You just don't let things like that cross your mind when it comes to your best friend's wife.
I don't think they are trying to insinuate that Rebecca or Miguel love each other as much as their first spouses. I also think it's totally plausible that Miguel was just reaching out to an old friend when he noticed Rebecca on FB, and things progressed from there. I think they truly love each other, but obviously differently. Miguel is more than a "protector" for Rebecca. I actually think he's one of the more likable characters on the show, along with "Toberman" and William.
