Any movie that any modest number of people saw in the '70s or '80s and then rented/bought/watched on cable after that, even once, is getting a remake/reboot/sequel, etc. And those movies will be getting remakes/reboots/sequels after some period of time.

I mean - great stories have often been revisited, but it's beyond comical the risk profile has shifted so that, Baby Driver notwithstanding, no suit in Hollywood seems willing to greenlight anything that does not have a defined, quantifiable built in fanbase from a previous comic/film/television series product.

So they're making a remake of the remake?

Yeah I forgot about the 1932 one.

This new one is going to be set in L.A.

Fun fact: Oliver Stone wrote the screenplay for the De Palma remake.

You know a lot about film, you would like the book Dogville vs. Hollywood, it talks a lot about why remakes and sequels are the thing now. But it talks a lot about Coppola, Kubrick, Charlie Kaufman, Lars Von Trier, and many other greats and their battles to try to keep artistic integrity while also staying relevant in Hollywood.

Also Blade Runner is just about my favorite film of all-time!

I'm sure SJWs will call it racist and xenophobic showing banana boat immigrants coming to America and committing nothing but blood and guts crimes.

Another remake? Is the concept of originality completely dead?

It's dead, been buried, been exhumed, fricked up the arse, reburied upside down, then pissed on.

The concept itself isn't dead. The concept of the general public spending money to go see a new, original movie is dead

Idris Elba should play Scarface.

Randy could be his goofy side kick.

Can't we get one upvote for frick's sake? Seriously, I'd like just one so we can destroy the POS who does so.
