Set your DVRs or become a vampire for the weekend, because They Live is coming on in 3 hours on TCM Underground.

Consume. Obey. Watch.

The alien overlords were putting out a better message back then. Current bunch is pretty degenerate.

I watched this and Big Trouble in Little China a few weeks ago. That's a solid movie night in my book

One of if not the best fist fight scene ever filmed. Absolutely love this movie. Always thought it would have launched Piper as an action star but it didn’t.

Got the AMC+ for 99c for two months on prime deal day and Shutter was apart of it and I watched They Live for the first time in a while a couple of nights ago and man it still holds up.

I wonder how much of that was the Frogtown movie and how much was pro wrestling being less mainstream in the 80s

Pro wrestling in 1988 was probably as mainstream as it will ever get. They literally just came off Andre vs Hogan at Wrestlemania III and plenty of wrestlers were getting movie parts at that time.

Piper is probably the best actor of all the pro wrestlers, then or now. He should have become at least a Chuck Norris level action star, bur, for whatever reason, it never happened.

I don't agree with that. Wrestlemania helped raise the Q rating but I think it peaked in relevance somewhere between the late 90s and early 00s.

The Frogtown movie was also pretty bad. If he could have landed a villain role in a Schwarzenegger or Stallone movie maybe it would have been different

I just watched this again for the hundredth time since it was released in 1988.

Still one of the best sci-fi movies ever.

If you haven't watched it and enjoy comedy / sci-fi movies, you'll like this.

It's 100% free. No ads. No pop-ups.

I saw They Live at the theater in Ohio when I was 6.

It kicked asss then and still does today.

Piper could have played Martin Riggs or John McClane. Not better than Mel Gibson or Bruce Willis, but he could have pulled off the Everyman/Down on his Luck cop in more serious roles. RIP.
