I have never played the game, or any of these games and I have never read any books
Finished the first season this morning and enjoyed it. Im not really sure what they did or what the real plot of the show was but I still enjoyed it.
I will see where it goes in season 2

that has neither read the books nor played the games.
If you have to have read the books or played the games, it's not a good show. I enjoyed it, but it definitely has some writing problems. By the end of episode 8, I felt like I gave a lot less of a shite than I did after about episode 4.

There was more than just a breast this season. And they were great.

Who was the mage with the Demon Spider that was chasing Yennefor and the baby? He just kind of disappeared after hunting that baby
He shows up briefly next to Fringella during the battle of sodden in the last episode, so assuming he was a Nilfgard assassin.

I must have missed him in the last episode.

Pretty sure it was the same dude, it's during the night scene right after the two mages destroy themselves making fireballs if I remember right. Fringella nods at a mage with a beard and face paint that looked like the same person.

I just don’t know about this show. I really wanted to like it, but it was so all over the place it made me feel like I was going crazy or constantly missing something. I’ve never rewound a show so much in my life trying to figure out what I missed in the 5 seconds I looked away that could possibly lead to the completely different thing that I’m looking at now.
It seemed like there were 5 different time lines going on at times and always AT LEAST 3. Hopefully season two is just one track considering what happened at the end of the season 1 finale.

It will be one track as far as timelines go, unless there are some minor flashbacks here or there. The last episode on this season is the last short story before the novels start, so the rest will be following one storyline.
Which should make it pretty straightforward for folks that were confused (understandably so) due to the constant timeline switching during each episode.

There were only really 2 timelines marked by the fall of the Cintra castle, which we saw early in the season
Everything with Geralt is before that happening, and everything happening with Ciri is happening after that.

And Yennafer? She talked about her basically doing nothing for decades at the brotherhood meeting. How far ahead and how much older is she than Geralt? Or is this one season simply covering 40 or 50 years worth of timeline? There’s just so much left out or otherwise not talked about.

From what I can tell, they are using this season to kind of get everyone up to speed on the gist of what has happened to bring them to Ciri. Going forward, it will focus on the Ciri story.

Her timeline is all before the Cintra fall until that final episode
Geralts timeline also passes by a few decades. When we see him in Cintra, Ciri hasn’t been born yet and that’s when they find out that the Queens daughter is pregnant. Also when he meets Yennifer for the first time, 4 years pass between that and the next episode when they run into each other again for the Dragon conquest
It’s not like Westworld where they go out of their way to keep you confused, they simply gave you a couple puzzle pieces and let you figure it out as the story progressed
I’d suggest you simply rewatch it with the knowledge you have now about the timelines and let yourself enjoy it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the series so far.
I assume for the sake of clarity season 2 will be more revealing, and of course the lead man has said so, conclusively.
I find the whole nature of Slavic folklore foreign to western folklore, and thus seeing and experiencing the seriousness of their belief in destiny to be refreshing and original.
The law of surprise and child of surprise was linked to their entire lives it seemed as a collective whole. To be broken brings chaos. Another feature of the show: chaos.
Ciri And Geralts finally connecting and the destiny fulfilled will establish order but with nefarious minds and desires wishing their own destiny outside of the gods, so to speak.
I find that all fulfilling as an outsider to these beliefs.
I assume since destiny has been fulfilled the world is safer. Geralt trains Ciri and becomes her destiny now alongside his and both become prime targets from here on out and both kick a lot of arse in doing so.
So, yes I'm all in. And Sabrina has some very nice breastesses. They couldn't stop bouncing enough in that final episode. Think I pulled a muscle.

She's a little bit older than Geralt, but not by much. She's in her 90s in the books around the time this season ends. Geralt is in his 80s at least by that point.
You can just look at Foltest to tell the true timeline of the show. He is around 10-12ish looking when Yen has her transformation (and is at least in her late 20s). During the Striga episode Foltest looks like he is in his mid 50s to 60ish.
So yeah, you are looking at 40 years or so for the timeline for the season.

Comments from the showrunner on the timelines.

The show keeps it purposefully mysterious where events are on the timeline, but is there a massive timeline across the walls of the writers' room laying out all the specifics?
Hissrich: Yes! The writers actually — I was shooting at one point, and so I was in Budapest, and the writers excitedly sent me a picture of a whiteboard, which is the most thorough explanation of the timeline. And what's funny is I really based the timelines on the movie Dunkirk. I had gone to see it a while before working on The Witcher, and I'd read a great interview with Christopher Nolan and he was talking about these three phases of getting soldiers off of this beach. And he had said, if I told them, like, let's say one phase took a month, one took a week, and one took a day — if I told them and let the month-long one take up the most story, and then the week-long one, and then the day-long one, you would think that the day-long one was the least important because it took the least amount of time on screen when in fact, all three phases were equally important, which is why he told the story that way. And I had one of those moments where I was in the shower and I hopped out and I said to my husband, "Is this crazy? Like, is it crazy to do that with this story? Is it crazy to say that Ciri's (Freya Allan) story takes place over two weeks, Yennefer's takes place over, you know, it's like 70 years. Geralt's (Henry Cavill) takes place over 20 years. Is that crazy?" And he was like, "I don't think so if you do it well!" It was just such a challenge and it was a really fun way to explore the story.

So then I guess that would make Yen right at 90 or just under in the show assuming she was around 18 when she was brought from her parents (which would make her closer to 40ish during her transformation when we see young Foltest if her timeline spans 70 years).

Yen is over 100 in the games. Her transformation gives her eternal youth.

Witcher 3 is 11.99/14.99 depending on the version on Steam for the winter sale

Yeah, she is almost 100 at the end of the novels, and she and Geralt are well into their 100s by Witcher 3 timeline. Just discussing/figuring out what they are going with in the show timeline.
