re: The White Lotus- HBO Max

This show is incredible. It's so much awkward, uncomfortable cringe, and I really enjoy it. I feel like every episode is meant to suggest that one character or other is the body, and that will be the dynamic up until the end. It's fun.

So did that final scene confirm that sweeneys character is a lesbian and into her friend. That's gotta be the only reason her friend was so worried about her finding out about her slam piece

Molly Shannon shows up as Shane’s mom but she isn’t at the airport with him in that early scene. The body is on the same flight though so I think she is the body.

Who is the killer? The wife? That would be a twist, given she seems to be the only actually decent person of all the guests. Or certainly could be Armond as he continues his tailspin.

I think Rachel just dumps him and bolts as she doesn’t want to be under the thumb of her husband and his mom for the rest of their life as she controls the purse strings.

What do we know for for sure:
-it’s a woman who died. Wasn’t that mentioned in episode 1 at the airport or am imagining that?
-their body needs to be sent back to the mainland, so probably not a staff member
-neither Rachel or his mom is with him at the airport
-we didn’t see any other guests at the airport

I guess an accident/suicide is still a possibility too. Or did they say murder? I need to re-watch the first few minutes

i dont recall them mentioning a sex of the victim, the other airport passengers did mention someone being killed, not necessarily a murder. its less that its a staff member body but it could still possible as the plane was flying to Honolulu not back mainland. although that doesn't mean the body isnt making its way to the mainland after honolulu.

I think the drug stash with armond may play some role, not saying he does the murder but perhaps someone poisons/overdoses another person or someone gets murdered while intoxicated or murders the intoxicated.

so far the hinted at potential victims - rachel, paula/male sex friend. id bet shane in the opener was a misdirect and instead maybe he is pissy bc he cheats and/or rachel finds a way to get money despite the prenup so shane loses money and a hottie. or he could just be salty about never getting the pineapple suite lol

Man, Plop plays the douche character so well. Flirting with the girls. Dismissing his wife. Etc. “I don’t want our marriage to be based only on your sexual attraction to me. What happens when that attraction fades?” “It won’t fade.” Such a perfect douchey response and completely the wrong one, and she bought it.

I didn’t peg Armand as gay. I thought it may be a misdirect but it appears not. Steve Zahn story was odd. It was hard to tell if he was actually trying to pick up someone, or just being awkward and hyping himself up to bang his wife. And the monkey thing in the bedroom was weird. I assume that’s to show how disconnected they are physically, which will come into play later.

I agree with whoever said Jennifer Coolidge is annoying. She definitely is.

The son plot is just weird and makes very little sense. Sleeping on the beach, wtf?

Daughter is jelly her friend is getting some peen. I agree she could be crushing on her friend as some have said.

This show is weird and the vibe is all over the place. But I definitely like it so far. I know it’s not exactly the same kind of show, but it sort gives me a Harper’s Island vibe, which was an old “whodunit” show on CBS like 15 years ago (except HI had a lot more murder ). It wasn’t very good and was pretty hated IIRC, but I fricking loved it.

Show is so well done. It may not be for everyone but it has me hooked

And my goal was to not mention Daddario every week but Jesus H. She’s perfect. I want to meet her parents and give them a hug.

All I know is she’d be having the same talk with me that she did with her husband. “Why do you want it all the time?”

Ok I liked the first two episodes, but this episode was pretty eh to me. I’m starting to agree with whoever said the acting seems so bad, almost to the point of being intentional, but maybe that’s because these characters are so absurd I can’t relate to any of them.

I wonder if the brother isn’t the one who kills someone defending the sister who goes crazy lesbian jealous. They seem to be doing an intentional job of showing how explosive he is and how quick he can go off the handle.

Idk, hope next episode is better.
