I started watching this show due to this thread and the TexAgs thread. It’s “enjoyable” but I don’t have any good other adjectives to describe it. Weird, subversive, just don’t know.
Honestly, it seems so close to real life right now. This is one of those rare occasions where the "Truth is stranger than fiction" is simply wrong. With this show, it is "Fiction is the truth".
It is fantastical. It's merely a bunch of sub-plots with believable characters. Even the "woke" sub-plots are real for this day and age.

Absolutely. There’s not a character on there I don’t know a version of IRL.
The breathy intermission music gets to me though. It’s like they’re purposely trying to weird me out unnecessarily.

Maybe that's the issue I have with it. I don't know any of these people and wouldn't care to know them anyway.

I love the music. It’s absolutely trying to make you uneasy.

Yes. The music, lighting and visual stimulation are all primary characters of the story.

that is the story because absolutely nothing has happened lol. The only thing that is going on is each person is displaying how much of an a-hole they are. I think all of these people just wanted to film a show and go on vacation for a few months.

Yeah that's the point. All of these people are beyond wealthy and yet they're so miserable and self-absorbed most of them (except the brother) can't enjoy one of the most beautiful places on the planet

What?
Armand has fallen off the wagon and is totally spiraling, the honeymooners are unraveling more and more by the day, Zahn went from fearing for his own mortality to rejoicing in his newfound lease on life to now totally questioning everything he thought he knew about his father and possibly himself, the girls are clearly heading toward a major falling out, Stifler’s mom is in both a new romantic and business relationship, and Armand and Plop are now set up for a clear confrontation.
Yes, it’s more of a character study/slice of life look at these various people thrown into a fish bowl, but the idea that “absolutely nothing has happened” is just lazy dude
Did you expect the body to be the result of a shootout or cage match??

A lot of these people in this thread need to go back to watching their ADHD Marvel shows/movies. Just stop watching if you’re bored.

Agreed...And Daddario has 10 years on her.

And I don't get that they almost never leave the hotel.
You don't go to a place like that to stay at the resort all day.
You don't go there to take scuba lessons, you would have done that before you got there.
When I went to Hawaii we were rarely at the hotel.

It definitely seems marketed as an all-inclusive and taking the charter boat after their flight lands to the venue kind of doubles down as such
They always go to Armond to ask about activities, of which there are plenty (usually)

All of this and you never once mentioned time travelling aliens from another dimension. Show is shite!

I agree with you, that many of us would never go to a resort and stay there without venturing out. I prefer the Bahamas out islands for seclusion, pristine beaches and very few people.
But make no mistake -- there are hundreds of mega-all-inclusive resorts in the most beautiful parts of this planet. And millions of people flock to them each year to never leave the property.

He is only appreciating Hawaii because he now has no phone. He is now experiencing the world around him. And, do you think he was gay before or is he just discovering that as well?

I think the Ketamine might play into it. Not sure who it'll be but the minute the backpack was handed in to Armond, and he started pulling out all the drugs, the first thing I said was he's gonna think that is coke - and I half expected him to do a big fat line and blow his mind.

Yeah I agree with that, he’s been so zoned out with technology I think observing any real human interaction was just kind of interesting to him.
Same way he looked up and saw the whales the night before, he was just kind of caught up and inspired by the moment.
We heard he only had one friend back home, and he moved to Japan like a year ago so he probably has been totally isolated.
The show could certainly go the route of having him question his sexuality given the grandfather storyline, but I agree I think that’s more of a misdirection and he’s just kind of waking up to the world around him in general, not specifically to the guys he was watching.

From what I’ve read it was daytime soap operas. I can totally see that.
He was in the series looking on HBO as well.
Like others, I'm not sure why I like this show. But I watch it every week and will continue to.
