It’s a series on Netflix

Michelangelo was my favorite as a kid. In retrospect he has a bong hidden in the sewer somewhere.
Throws some of that ooze on some plants, etc.

The first real tears I cried in my life where when my buddy broke the front slide for the eye ball. That was a sad freaking day let me tell you

my biggest takeaway from this series is that it seems like, more often than not, the idea for the toy comes first, then they make a cartoon in order to give the toys a background story and serve as a weekly 30 minute commercial to sell the toys. I think that was the case with at least 3 of the toy franchises in the series. Always thought it was the other way around.

I watched this episode and immediately felt bad for all the money my parents spent.

I had a thought about this recently. Orange is my favorite color. Michelangelo is my favorite Ninja Turtle. I don't know which came first. Did I like Mikey because he's orange or do I like orange because of Mikey? It's a question that will weigh on my for the rest of my life.

This shook me.

Just to be clear. Ninja Turtles were not created for the toys.
The cartoon was created for the toys, but the general concept and back story as a whole were not.

pretty sure that is what I said. cartoons (in general) were often created as a toy commercial, to provide backstory, or both back then. a lot of the changes to the turtles, specifically, were made to sell toys (different color masks, etc).

I remember the first time I reached the blimp on the first NES game...nearly peed my pants with excitement

Mirage also did a solid for its artists by letting them submit character designs to get a slice of the Playmates pie, whether they ended up on the show or comic or not.

Screw that...3 seasons in, and still no Evel Knievel?
