Spotlight (2015)

I love this movie but several, several things were embellished. No way it should be on the "most accurate" list. I'm sure it had a lot right but a lot wrong too.

What? Goodfellas is much more accurate than that and the movie deviates very slightly from Henry Hill's book.

I think what he was saying was even though it was accurate to the book, how accurate was the book?

Ok but the book is pretty accurate too. Read that article i linked earlier. Hill was a notorious liar and opportunist so i understand the skepticism but a lot of the events really happened.

the fact that "Lone Survivor" is based pretty much on the word and the story of the, well, lone survivor should immediately disqualify it from anything on a "historically accurate" list. there are a bunch of claims made by ML in that book that have been called into question by various people who were involved directly or tangentially. i dont see how it could possibly be considered anywhere close to objectively historically accurate.

long story short...Marcus Luttrell was most likely full of shite

Kingdom of Heaven

I know this was posted a while ago but .

Kingdom of Heaven is another one of Ridley Scott's films where he tries to make it feel historically accurate with impressive costumes, set designs, and visuals. However, this film really did history a bad favor by failing to capture the realities of the Crusades.

No Patton, no care.

The Germans didn't have M48 "Patton" tanks in Tunisia.

It's a great movie, but some things are not totally accurate as Bradley was an advisor on the film and he did not like Patton, which colored some of his views and advice on various scenes.

---pretty high bar, don't you think? Name a movie that is "totally accurate".
Of course they used M48 tanks. It was made in 1969. How many operating Shermans were available for the tank battle scenes?
Come on man.

There were plenty of Shermans around in 1969. Hell, Israel used them into the 80s iirc.

eta-Germans didn't use Shermans either.

Huh? The books it was adapted from are fictional. Also, the 'Acheron' was actually an American ship, not a French one (or a Dutch one of you're going with the other book). They just didn't think American audiences would watch a film in which we are the bad guys.

It is on the list not because the history is accurate but because the depiction of Navy life from that time period is very accurate.

Speaking of gangster films, I wonder why they didn't mention Donnie Brasco? That one is pretty accurate.

Downfall is on the list!

Hitler made it to Argentina on a submarine. Yeah, right. A narcissistic, megalomaniac of this magnitude stayed in a bunker in an over run Berlin and shot himself. Got it.

All The President’s Men, both the book and the movie was an extreme watered down version of what really went down. A whole shite load of other very in facts were totally ignored.
