I figured I would get a thread going. I haven't been this excited for a show in a long time and word is they stayed true to the book.

i'm pretty excited. i genuinely like Chris Pratt. his more serious roles haven't been where he excelled, so i'm really pulling for him on this one.

I would be so shocked if this is any good. "Serious" Chris Pratt just hasn't worked as a leading man and his other project with Amazon was awful. I wish he'd lean into comedies again.

I haven't been this excited since I heard they were making a movie of Without Remorse.. I this one will actually live up to expectations though!

"serious" Chris Pratt is not as good as funny Chris Pratt but moneyball and zero dark thirty are what got him GotG, not Parks and Rec.
Passengers was fine and while realizing the ridiculousness of Tomorrow War, I liked it. One of the rare action movies where i would have paid to see in theater.

That may be true, but he wasn’t the leading man in either of them.

Are you familiar with the source material? It’s so good Pratt will only need to to be decent to make it a great show. Word is they shopped it around and went with Amazon because they allowed them to be true to the book. It’s got a really good chance of being great.

No I’m not aware of the source material. Judging more by the history of Pratt in these types of roles and Amazon as a studio.

There is lots of great material for multiple seasons. I think the latest book, book 5 In the Blood, may be the best so far.

I'll probably watch it but I thought that first book was pretty meh and didn't seek out the others. Pretty obvious twist and just nothing special.

The first episode starts with Chris Pratt talking about a bible story. There are some heads that are gonna explode over that fact alone.
