quote:You have to understand the context. It was a (mostly successful) attempt to take Bond away from Moore-Brosnan smirks and back to the darker world of Ian Fleming's novels.
I rewatched Casino Royale a couple months ago and I still don't see what the fuss is about. Its good but not memorable.

8. The Double Life of Véronique (1991)
9. Videodrome (1983)
10. The Departed (2006)
Loved the bolded ones.
Skyfall is not highly rated in the first place. Can't be overrated. And its pretty good.
Inception has my favorite score of all time.

Casino Royale is GOAT Bond film.
Helped that it followed those Brosnan atrocities (minus Goldeneye)

Skyfall is an interesting case. Everyone was so excited over the "new" Bond and how it was portrayed in Casino Royale, and then it just looked like shite in QoS (let's be honest, it was a Bourne Movie starring James Bond) I think Skyfall has become a tad overrated because the Bond fanbase really wanted the next one solidly in the win column. It's the first film in a while that brought back the Connery Bond feel, so fans feel the need to gloss over how stupid it was to bring them to a random house with zero back up and zero weapons. It wasn't a bad movie, and the first 2/3rds were probably some of the best scenes in the Bond universe (other than HOLY shite LOOK HOW FAST THAT HACKER CAN TYPE).

quote:Yes it was. I get that Bond movies have over the top evil villains with ridiculous schemes, but the whole lets head off to the country part was plain stupid.

One thing if there was a fully stocked safe house. A completely different thing to take off for the UNSAFE house and invite the murderers for tea.

Not to mention M did die...so it wasn't even a successful plan.

It's just an opinion, damn man.
CK was boring to me. I actually liked GoodFellas better than the Godfather (although I liked GF 2). Pulp Fiction - I never understood the hype. It's ok but I think there were 2 movies made that year that were better - Gump and Shawshank.

I don't get the hype for pulp fiction either. Its ok, and its stylish.

Avatar should definitely be on there. That movie sucked.
I agree with Skyfall, Inception, and The Departed.
I liked Million Dollar Baby, although the end was a little... weird considering the rest of the film. I didn't know it was highly rated.

Agreed. Seems like every time a movie comes out about "racial harmony" everyone involved in the movie wins awards (slight exaggeration) regardless of the quality of acting.

2. Network (1976)
is a masterpiece. Its also a movie that told the future. Spot on. I agree with most of the list. SkyFall made Bond and old weak character. Its good but, definitely overrated.
