As others have said your analysis is very insightful. Great job

Damn great analysis. I had seen other analyses with references to the bell ringing each time the diner door opens before it goes black, as well as last supper analogies, but I hadn't picked up or seen some of the other things the OP mentioned. Dammit looks like I'll have to start a second re-watch now!

The only thing I don’t like about your analysis is that now I have to rewatch the entire series again.

Yup, it's time for another rewatch.

Paulie was an old gangster and survivor. It's been years since I've seen the show but toward the end, maybe even the last season, Paulie made reference to the wars he survived.
He knew how to keep his head low and on a swivel, and he was smart enough to not be too ambitious. I don't recall Paulie ever really bucking for any sort of promotion or greater responsibility. He seemed to have his niche and liked it that way.
Also, other than some silk suits and his Cadillac. I seem to remember Paulie living a somewhat austere lifestyle. In fact, I think he slept on some sort of bunk or small single bed.
Paulie knew how to out live a gang war. He and Junior were the only ones in the Soprano family that did.

Patsy survives, and most likely was behind the hit on Tony as revenge for his twin brother Philly’s death.
It's no accident that the older gangsters survived. Patsy, Paulie and Junior. Yeah Junior had dementia and all that shite (even though Tony didn't buy it) but Junior had survived some heavy shite in the past, and as we learned from the movie, he was a conniving fricker too.
shite, Junior might've been faking it after all. Tony would likely know.

Feels more likely than not that Paulie is the one who gave up Tony’s location for the hit to secure a promotion in the take over
I don't think anyone had to "give up" Tony though. He believed he had won. He wasn't exactly in hiding or trying to keep a low profile. But did the killer come in after him or was he already there? If the killer was already there, then I guess someone did give him up.

When I think of a "rat" in terms of mob guys, I view it as working with the government. Paulie never did, nor would he ever cooperate with the FBI.
Paulie did tell Johnny Sac the fat joke made about Ginny Sac and cause the hellacious shite storm between the two families. He also told other shite to Johnny that caused less dollars to be in Tony's pocket and to gain favor with New York.
I view the two faced part of Paulie as him being a sociopath, like all the mob guys. Ultimately, they are in it for themselves and are trying to line their pockets. Paulie is selfish, but I never once viewed him as a rat, at least in terms of cooperating with the feds.
Good take.

I finished my 2nd rewatch about 4 months ago. Great. Thanks to this thread I'll need to do another.
