Does the Thriller video count? I was terrified of that as a kid.

The only thing I remember scaring me as a kid was Jaws. But, the two things I remember that really sent me down the path of loving horror were the Thriller video, which I remember my mom and aunt trying to stop me from watching, and the movie Night of the Creeps.

but the maze is a let down.

Would make sense because the maze and hotel exterior wasn't filmed there. The outside of the hotel is actually The Timberline Lodge off of Mt. Hood Oregon. Went there a few times in the 90's. The maze was filmed on a set in Brentwood California.

Christopher Lee was the Dracula I grew up with. Saw all of these, except the 1958 one, in the theater.

1958 Dracula
1966 Dracula: Prince of Darkness
1968 Dracula Has Risen from the Grave
1970 Taste the Blood of Dracula
1970 Scars of Dracula
1972 Dracula A.D. 1972
1973 The Satanic Rites of Dracula

These were all Hammer films, and Peter Cushing was Dr. Van Helsing in most, if not all of them.

I was very much afraid of Lee's Dracula. I was also very jealous of his seductions of young women. He was in his 50's when these films were made.

ETA: I was ready for him. I had a wooden stake between my mattress and box springs.
