Well yeah. It was fresh. We had never seen captain America or Ironman in HD on screen before.

The costs for production should decrease with AI improvement

If I were making a big time movie, AI for CGI would be my first thought. Surely can't be as expensive as paying out of the arse for it during production. I'm sure the Hollywood Weirdos have anti AI CGI and Art clauses with all their unions but f that. Some of the AI videos nowadays are completely insane in realness quality. You need what at most a hundred bucks a month to make some insane shite with some of the video AI stuff.

GOTG3 is OK, but a bit bloated and the one of the only real standouts. Spider-Man is the other.

But look at the turds:

Wakanda Forever
Doc Strange Multiverse
Eternals
Shang Chi
Thor Love and Thunder
Hawkeye
Moon Knight
She-Hulk
The Marvels
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Ms. Marvel

Art is subjective but c'mon man. This is a shite list and it makes me question your taste in anything.

The absolute best theory that I've hear about decline of Marvel is that the viewing base is aging out.

I was 28 when Iron Man first came out. Now at 45 I just don't care to want to keep up with everything in this whole world building thing.

I tried to get my son into it and he was not interested at all in watching all the films.

Marvel really messed up post Endgame. They should have let it breathe for a couple of years, then launch X-Men and build from there.

The pendulum will swing back to DC and Batman. Or it will be something else. I agree. Iron man came out in 08 and was fresh. That was almost 20 years ago. The build up to endgame was perfect. Hard to recreate perfect. It’s no different than a long running show where all the main characters are gone (usually better actors too) and we are left with the B team.

I do think they’ll see a second life with X-men.

Fantastic Four had great reviews from both critics and audiences. It's arguably better than some of the Phase 2 Marvel films. But it didn't enjoy the high tide that those lesser Phase 2 films rode on.

I forget what movies were in what phases prior to Endgame, but I personally would shoehorn F4 somewhere in the top half, maybe the top 3rd of pre-Endgame movies.

Just rewatched watched up through EG in release order, over a couple months. Looking back even the perceived duds held up decently (IM3, TtDW). Even Captain Marvel was tolerable the second time through it all. It’s just a cohesive narrative.

Anyone watch them in chronological order and prefer it that way?

I watched in chronological order and preferred that over the release date. I skipped a few along the way but hit the major ones. Once winter solider hits its banger after banger to set up the grand finale.

Preach.

Thought my boy would be all over these flicks, so I sat down with him for Iron Man.

Halfway through, and he wanted to turn it off an do something else. Whatever magic these flicks had doesn't seem to be transitory.

Agreed, I couldn't even get my boy to read comics or even watch Marvel/DC animation. There's no interest, but he can tell me everything about his favorite streamers.

If Marvel really wants to connect with the next generation, put Ninja, Pokimane, or IShowSpeed, in a Marvel film.

It’s pretty simple, Marvel is a 75+% male audience and they haven’t made a movie catering to their largest demographic in the last 15 outside of a couple outliers that did well. Just like Star Wars they’ve trashed the IPs fan base hoping to create a new one but didn’t realize that new fan base was incredibly small. They’re stupid, self serving hacks who got rid of all the people that kept the lore and characters upright at the beginning of the MCU and now they can’t recover.

They also have much longer development cycles and budgets as large as movies. Not to mention that I'm pretty sure marvel doesn't have any game development companies in house.
