I unsubscribed from Amazon 2years ago.
Because of this trash.
I didn’t stop caring about Middle Earth.
This show deserves no courtesy as it showed Tolkien none.

I did. You’re just not bright enough to see it.
It’s only going to get worse. It’s unavoidable with the set up of the first three episodes.

It’s not a good show. It’s objectively terrible. A few pretty looking scenes doesn’t begin to make up for the lore breaking & character assassination that goes on.
And orc babies!!

Neil probably loves this show so…
ETA - vid about The Acolyte just as easily could be about Rings of Power.

You don’t view any entertainment nor have any viewpoints of your own, you really just let YouTubers tell you how to feel and what to say.
You are the movie version of the lemmings on DU.

The haters in here are people that I genuinely feel sorry for. They hate their own lives so much that they can only find pleasure in attacking a good show and the people who like it. They pretend that it's woke so that they can feel virtuous about the pathetic loserism they display in their bitterness and spite.
That's the same exact crap supporters of the Acolyte tried to say.
And for you to speak of "pathetic loserism" after saying you have read LOTR every year for 29 years is peak irony.

I actually admire that. The late Christopher Lee did similar.
But I’ve not doubt he’d have hated this mess.

She can't do both? Work a few months (weeks?) out of the year to make s billion dollar streaming series and then also 'focus' on women's rights things?
Weak.
She was a character you hated on, despite not having actually watched her character, as being part of the woke aspects of the show.
Now they remove the awful female character and it's lame on their part.
I actually hate that I don't think this show is any good because that means I'm in the most basic form on your side of this argument. When someone agrees with you it means they have agreed with the absolute biggest imbecile on this entire site, but, I can't find many areas to defend this show.
It's not going to stop you from posting but just so you know, nobody is watching your stupid youtube videos and literally no one give a shite about your opinion of this show, whether the points are valid or not, because you haven't watched the show and have shown for years now on this board that you have absolutely no ability to think for yourself. It's embarrassing.

Not MY videos, just backing up my views with what others are saying & why. They go into greater detail than can be done here on a message board and no, I won’t stop sharing them.
Watch & pretend you didn’t.

For as much as this show lives in your head, I’m surprised Amazon doesn’t give you Prime for free.

Are you under the impression that orcs having babies somehow breaks canon?

I wouldn’t accept it if they did.
It’s funny how you’re not getting this. I would gladly pay them if only they didn’t trash the source material.
Yet that’s exactly what they did.
Apple + : Gave me a Monarch series and I subscribed.
Max : Put out a decent GoT prequel and I subscribed.
See how this works?
Had Disney been competent with Marvel & Star Wars..

I am under the impression that it isn’t relevant to the greater story. Whether an author writes a book or TV show or movie, there is only limited space on a page or time on the screen to show the significant parts of a story.
I don’t need to see two lesbian space witches scissoring to understand that they are a couple, nor do I need to see Galadriel sitting on the toilet.
FFS.

And I'll say that Season 2, three episodes in, is better. It's a very good show. The number of annoying scenes that we say in Season 1 (like Galadriel endlessly riding her horse) are way down. The direction is much crisper. The Sauron/Adar backstory is excellent.
If I took out my "I don't like this show because it doesn't follow the lore" feelings and tried to view it as a guy who doesn't care and just wants to watch a good show, I couldn't call this a very good show. I agree with pretty much all of this...
quote:
But the show was beautiful and visually faithful. The acting, production values, music, etc. were all great.
That's just missing one thing... writing. The writing just isn't that good and I honestly don't think they even grasp the essence of the story.
I did what I said I wasn't and broke down and watched the first 3 episodes of season two because the trailer actually looked really good. But almost immedietly they start the season off with something incredibly dumb. Elrond and his motivation/how he views the rings is just dumb. He was one of the best characters last season, now all of a sudden he turns into an idiot and doesn't realize that destroying the rings/hiding them (even jumping off a cliff) = the elves life spirit (dumb in itself) dies and they have to leave Middle Earth forever and Sauron takes over. That happens with 100% certainty if he does that. But he thinks keeping the rings and Sauron MAYBE fooling them is a much better option. So MAYBE getting turned is worse than 100% certainty Sauron wins and elves leave/die.
Putting aside just how completely dumb it was for Galadriel to not tell everyone that Halbrand is Sauron, Gil-Galad has to write to Celebrimbor to tell him that info. He does that immediately because it's the smart thing to do. Galadriel at least tells Celebrimbor not to treat with him. What do you know, Celebrimbor just completely ignores that and invites him in with open arms. Meanwhile a million things take place, and three episodes later and the letter Gil-Galad wrote still hasn't made it to Celebrimbor. Everything else has taken place at a fast pace and people have traveled all over, but I guess Gil-Galad had a turtle deliver his message.
The dwarves predicament is so weird. They have no light and food source but they'll obviously have to trade Mithril for a ring of power, a ring that will I guess will reverse the bad effects that the volcanic eruption caused Khazad-dum. I don't like creating all these ways/needs for them to need a Ring of Power.
There are female Orcs and they had babies. Return of the King had a female Orc in it and nobody through a fit over that. That's also not a break from lore. They procreate, that's also not a break from source. But who the hell wants to see an Orc family life and a concerned Orc father? Nobody. Orcs are awful, they're evil and bred for evil purposes. There's literally nothing wrong with having a race that does just bad. You don't have to make some internal good/bad conflict for everyone. It's so dumb. Nobody wants to like Orcs or see Orc family life.
They are trying really hard to make Nori and her fat friend like Frodo and Sam and it just isn't working. Even having the fat friend stumble over them like it was Sam peeking outside of Bilbo's window. And then immediately she guides them in the right direction before they die of thirst. Thank goodness for her!
Annatar was done well. He is believable and the actor can pull it off. The dwarves are hands down done better than anything else on the show. If they would have done a show just about the dwarves they would have a good show. Durin III and son are great Durin's and done better than any dwarf Jackson did outside of Gimli. I don't care that Disa is black, she is actually one of the better characters and fits what you would think someone like Durin's wife would be.

“ season one has already annihilated the source material…”
And that’s the point.
And that’s the point.

Not YOUR views. You haven't formed any views on your own. You just watch videos and adopt the opinion of someone else. It's impossible for you to have your own views, you've repeatedly proved that unless it's about Godzilla.
