I get that her and Luke had similar backgrounds, but that's were any resemblance between the 2 dies.

Exactly my point. She's a lazy copy of Luke, but she's better.

Like how She Hulk could do all sorts of things better than Hulk, even before he taught her anything. Never mind that he's been Hulk for years, but because she's a woman, it all just comes to her immediately.

Rey is an immensely popular character.
So is Jar Jar Binks, and for many of the same reasons

Well I’m sure whenever it comes out people will be super excited.

Everyone I talk to has told me they are dying for another Rey movie.

That's great. But what about the voices OUTSIDE of your head, actual REAL people?

If there was a huge groundswell of demand for it, the movie already would have been made.

More times than you can possibly imagine.

Luke EARNED his way to becoming a Jedi.

Mary Rey basically was always awesome, she just needed Luke to get out of the way.

Seriously, how are you not getting any of this?

This is EXACTLY the same point I'm making.

I was using ESB to prove that Luke ISN'T a Mary Sue.

He literally loses to Vader, brutally, in their first encounter.

I suppose my poorly worded point was that Disney simply cut-n-pasted a low resolution version of Luke & called her Rey.

Rey, the granddaughter of the Emperor, doesn’t have any children in the next series which focuses on her starting a Jedi Academy.

Hahahahahaha. Childless cat lady indoctrinates younglings.

Fair :)

Rey is Luke without ESB. No real growth, no struggle. It's Star Wars Luke (plucky young character wins the day) then fast forwards to RotJ Luke (post-training, can hold their own against enemies, etc.) Rey skips the ESB path, and that's why she gets labeled a Mary Sue and Luke doesn't - without ESB, Luke probably gets the Mary Sue label as well.

It doesn't hurt that ESB is also considered the best movie in the whole series either.
