The raptors in Jurassic park were actually suits with men inside.

Saw this fact a few weeks ago, and was amazed. They did an amazing job (even though we have no real idea how dinosaurs moved back then ).

Jurassic Park should have EASILY won the Best Picture Oscar in 1994 over the pedestrian "Forrest Gump".

Jurassic Park came out in the summer of 1993, when another pedestrian film by Steven Spielberg called "Schindler's List" won the Oscar for Best Picture.

I believe that JP qualified for 1994's awards, not 1993.

Well, you're right... I'm just pissed. Forrest Gump was certainly far better than average, but Jurassic Park was special. The Gump experience was merely watching a story... Jurassic Park, otoh, was one of the few movies in which I felt totally immersed. I was scared of those damn totally credible dinosaurs. Jeff Goldblum was funny, the kids were cute, the scenery was beautiful, and even the story line was at least as plausible as Gump's. Like "Jaws", JP is everything you could want in a movie.
