One of the all time best villains is in this movie.
Watched this in the theatre and was pumped at the end.

I enjoyed it a lot when it came out but over time it's lost its luster for me.

It's a fun, shitty movie. It's basically like Gladiator and Demolition man.

I remember TNT always doing the headfake on the channel guide.
"Yeah! The Patriot is on tonight at 7!"

I just did a rewatch that that was a damn solid show. Simcoe was a great villain.

Turn is awesome. Wish it could have lasted a couple more seasons.

"This will be forgotten"
"Hey, uh, Tavington, remember the Boston Massacre? Only 5 people died there. That sure as shite wasn't forgotten, and now you've lit a church on fire with a hundred people inside? That's something some guy born around 100 years from now will advocate for. I'm pretty sure they're going to remember this."
Seriously, one historian said if the burning of the church actually happened that it would have kept us out of World War I. That's how severe that would have been to American history.

When Tavington meets with Mel Gibson later, bringing up that he killed Gibson’s son:
“You know, it’s dirty business doing one’s duty… but just occasionally it’s a real pleasure.”

I remember when the movie came out a bunch of British historians were pissed off about that scene. I think it was because they mixed some true stuff in the movie and they were worried people would think that was a true story.

Well, it actually was based on a historical event which makes it all the more disgusting they invoked it in this movie. A French village once captured an SS officer, so the Nazis then locked all the women and children in a church and burnt it to the ground as payment. At least Tavington didn't crucify a baby or shoot the legs out from under all the men, pour gasoline all over them, and then light them on fire. Oradour-sur-Glane massacre
Yeah, I don't blame the British for being a bit pissed off when they are portrayed as being directly comparable to Nazis.
