I mean, isnt the passion specifically about the last hours of his life? Am I remembering this wrong?

Jesus went to hell in those 3 days and freed the believers before him who were not able to be baptized yet. That's the way it was taught to me in Sunday school

If the story ended at the last hours of his life, then it wouldn’t be a story

Heard about this about a week ago.
Looking forward to the movie. Every time I watch Passion, there are a few scenes in that movie that make me cry (which I hardly ever do watching a movie):

1. When Jesus is on trial and Peter denies him.
2. When the Romans are beating and whipping Jesus
3. When Jesus is hung on the Cross.

but can he still pass as a 33 year old?

Absolutely. Just a little hair dye and he will be just fine.

My wife was wondering whatever happened to Jim Caviezel the other day and I realized the last time I saw him was on some football movie we did like five years ago. He came to the wrap party, asked a lot of questions about the grill the food was being cooked on, then left. Nice guy but super fricking weird.

Anyway, I looked him up on IMDb then asked her, “Guess what his next movie is?” And she was like, “Jesus 2?” and god dammit she was absolutely correct. Anyway, CSB.

This is going to be a hilarious movie, and will also make a hilarious amount of money.

What exactly is there to expand on storwise here?

Probably the denial of Peter, Judas driven to kill himself out of guilt, the other apostles living as fugitives and the actual burial and resurrection of Jesus.

I still think it's kind of off-putting, though, especially with the cheesy, predictable sequel title.

Is this a serious question?

Also, Ive read several other articles on this and I dont think him going to hell is going to be included. Wouldnt make sense. If Mel was going to include that I think he would have done so in the first movie. The Passion ended with Jesus resurrected so I believe it will start from there and let the story end to his Ascension to Heaven.

So, not an actual sequel, huh?

Because that'd be interesting to see.

Christian theology is essentially this.

When Adam and Eve ate from the apple, they sinned against God and lost their salvation in the process. The stain of their sin followed mankind throughout the ages and, when we died, none of us went to Heaven. The righteous among us went to what was coined by St. Thomas Aquinas as the Limbo of the Fathers. When Christ died on the cross, he descended to the Limbo of the Fathers and broke open its gates, allowing men and women such as Adam, Eve, David, Noah, Esther, and the like to ascend into Heaven.

I've read the book, but won't post any spoilers for those waiting on the movie.

Thank you. Someone told me about the ending of Titanic. Totally ruined the surprise ending that caused me to lose faith in the boat’s engineering.

Well...he didn't actually go to the fire and brimstone part of Hell. Before Christ died on the cross, the belief is that only a select few ever went to Heaven due to the original sin brought forth into the world by Adam and Eve. Moses and Elijah were two of those select few. The rest of mankind went to the uppermost level of Hell that St. Thomas Aquinas coined the Limbo of the Fathers. This is the place Christ was referring to when he told the thief on the cross that he would be in paradise with Him on that day. It was a beautiful place where the souls of the righteous went when they died. When Christ died, the curse of original sin was broken and the souls of the righteous were finally allowed to enter Heaven. This is an event in Christian theology known as the Harrowing of Hell.

Anyway...according to St. Thomas Aquinas there are four sections of Hell:

1. Gehenna: this is Hell as we traditionally think of it. It is a place of punishment for the damned.

2. Limbo of the Children: this is where those who die in original sin, but without the stain of mortal sin, go. These are children who die before they are baptized. There is no pain here and these children will be raised up upon Christ's Second Coming.

3. Limbo of the Fathers: this is where the great saints of the Old Testament went prior to the death of Christ on the cross. There was no pain here and this level of Hell is now completely vacant.

4. Purgatory: This is where the righteous who die with venial sin on their soul go to be purified before they can enter into Heaven.

Same. This is called adding things to the Bible that aren't actually there.
