Great movie with one of the best cast ever assembled!

I was 13 when that came out. I must have watched it 1000 times.

Would be much better w/someone other C. Edgar Hoover or whatever his name is in the lead

Great book too. SE Hinton was 15 when she wrote it.

One of the most rewatchable films ever, too.
It just makes your feel nostalgic to watch it

Taps is a far better movie…with much better acting.

The Outsiders is 40 years old.
Diane Lane apparently wasn't born yet when she surprisngly starred in the flick.

Steve Randall was an absolute madman, and subservient only to Darry Curtis, the eldest greaser.
Him and Sodapop vie for number two in the hierarchy, which is why they arm-wrestle in the kitchen.

Rob Lowe tells an interesting story about Tom Cruise.
In The Outsiders, Cruise was pretty dopey looking and had a relatively small part. Not a major player at all and pretty far down on the teen star pecking order.
Anyway, when the cast was in New York for some pre-production shite or some sort of filming, all the guys had to share a room, at I think the Ritz-Carlton.
Well Cruise and Lowe were supposed to be roomies. The way Lowe tells it (who was much better looking and on a faster track). Cruise threw a fricking tantrum, believing he shouldn't have to have a roommate at all. Apparently, even then he believed he was the shite.
Now keep in mind, at that time Tom Cruise was essentially a goofy looking bit player in that movie and a complete unknown. Strange though that even then, the guy had supreme confidence in himself and believed he was going to be the biggest star out of all of them.
