The Fugitive TV series. Doesn't get much better.

Nah, this is solid. Well done. I can’t recall how many times I’ve recommended different shows listed on pg. 1, so this will be a handy thread to link for others requesting titles. I’ll make another post at some point giving my rating of the shows listed on pg. 1.

Others I can think of off the top of my head:

Fauda (Israel - Netflix): 3
Bordertown (Finland - Netflix): 3.5
Unforgotten (UK - Amazon): 3.5
Dogs of Berlin ( Germany - Netflix): 3
Counterpart (US - starz): 4.5
Red Riding Trilogy - miniseries (UK - Hulu): 4

ETA: one suggestion I’d make is maybe put the language of the series in parentheses beside the name? (Eng.), (Fra) (Ger) (Ita) etc. It will make browsing for shows easier I think. While I give people shite for complaining about readinnsubtitles and listening to dubbed versions, I get that sometimes you just don’t want to read subtitles. Or maybe just a simple “F” for foreign.

Cool, I’ll add those since you provided ratings. I had to put the rating requirement into place or else we’d have hundreds of entries that no one had vetted, which would defeat the purpose of this.

Add the American series The Bridge I would give a 4, have not seen the earlier Swedish version but would believe it is quite different other than a body found on a bridge connecting 2 countries. Tin Star, some may take it or leave it, but I would give it a strong 3.5, really liked Roth and his wife's characters. Wallander, not sure if you are going Swedish or BBC version. Swedish subtitled I would give a 4, BBC 3.5. I liked Fortitude, would give 3.5. Ozark last season drags my rating to 3.5. Luther 4. The Fall 5. Bodyguard 4.5. True Detective I would give a 4 and that is with a lot of latitude for the last few eps of S1, very average S2, and strong S3. I'll circle back when I have more time to think about other series.

Why?

The front page is useless spam.

This thread is dumb

Relax. I’ll split the list from the first post into a few posts and backfill some of the other “Reserve” posts with reviews or ratings. It’s better to have too much real estate on the front end than not enough.

I’ll break it up into an English language list and a non-English language list. I don’t know if I’ll go so far as to include the language - unless you know it, you’re going to be reading subtitles anyway.

Already finding a need for that extra real estate...

I added all your ratings. Regarding The Bridge, I’ve not seen it or the Swedish version but have seen the French version, The Tunnel, which was very good. Has both Clemence Poesy and Stephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon) in it.

Of the ones currently still in the English section that are foreign are the following (I think I have them all):

Foreign:
Dark
Deadwind
Dogs of Berlin
Fauda
The Forest
The Frozen Dead
Lava Field
The Mantis
Perfume
Trapped

So the above I’ve seen and they are definitely foreign language.

Also, I think one of us & retribution are the same show with different titles (UK & US)

Added your ratings. I assumed by Wallander you meant the British one.

Yes, One of Us and Retribution are one and the same. Wikipedia says it was "originally" Retribution, so I'm assuming One of Us is the official title now and that is how it is filed.

Check the lists now. I think I've got all the non-English ones. I haven't seen Hinterland, but Wikipedia says its official languages are both Welsh and English, so I have it under non-English.

Yep. Looks good. Yeah there are a few that have English and foreign languages spoken, but I wouldn’t worry about that.

And I’ll go ahead and add a 5 for the British Wallander as it’s basicaly my gold standard.

Added.

I’m not going to keep making posts just to say “added.” I’ll upvote once I’ve added. While not perfect, you’ll at least know if your post has not been upvoted that your rating hasn’t been added either.

Wow, I take it this is your favorite genre like me.

ETA: How friggin awesome was Deadwind? I loved the Finnish setting and the lead actress. She was ice cold. Not as cold as Gillian Anderson’s character from the fall, but still a no nonsense woman.
